The addition of Blunt and Chastain more than makes up for the movie’s decision to ditch actress Kristen Stewart, who played the role of Snow White in the first film, and also her titular character.

A story without Snow White

“The Huntsman” will do away with the character of Snow White. Accordingly, it will focus on how Eric and Ravenna crossed paths long before Snow White became part of their lives.

The story reportedly will have Eric searching for a stolen magic mirror that revives an old grudge between him and the Snow Queen.

Since Snow White would not be in the story, there were reports that the dwarves will not be included in the prequel film likewise. However, Nick Frost, the lead dwarf character in “Snow White and the Huntsman” is returning to “The Huntsman” so there will be at least one dwarf in the film.

It was not clear if the other dwarf characters will also join Nick Frost in the movie.

A movie protagonist

While no announcement has been made yet regarding Jessica Chastain’s character, it is likely that she will play a protagonist role to join Eric, who is the main protagonist in the movie.

Chastain’s role in “The Huntsman” comes in the heels of a very hectic 2014 for her where she starred in four movies including “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby,” “Miss Julie,” “Interstellar,” and “A Most Violent Year.”

Her movie plate for 2015 is just as busy. Jessica just completed filming “Crimson Peak” directed by Guillermo del Toro, and is already filming “The Martian” being directed by known sci-fi director Ridley Scott.

“The Huntsman” will be an FX extravaganza of a movie as first-time director Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, a VFX wizard who won an Oscar for his work on “Snow White and the Huntsman,” will helm the prequel.
