Kim Kardashian and Kanye West might have been one of the most talked about couples in all of last year. With the birth of their child, the microphone stealing techniques of West and the very much nude photos of Kim Kardashian hitting the web, the newsreels have been spinning out of control. Recently, West was on the stage during the Emmy’s again, to interrupt Beck as he was just about to start his acceptance speech. Kanye interrupted with his thoughts on who should have won for Album of the Year.
Kim Kardashian has her own issues lately with a whack job of a family which seems to be in the news all the time, the birth of her child and nude photos and magazine covers to keep the clock ticking. Recently, Kanye West had a chance to speak at the BET Awards because he was set to receive the “Visionary Award” at the show.
West, which is not really one to hold back when he has a chance at the microphone, said that that might have been “one of the first times in my life I understand how it is to feel humbled”, referring to a highlight reel of his career. The 37-year old accepted his award and quickly went into a 9 minute speech about his experiences as a black male in America. He talked about reaction to some that he was married to a woman that was not “of color”, referring to Kim Kardashian West, of course.
He quickly went on to talk about what he thought were high expectations for those that happen to be black and celebrities. He talked about how conversations often lead to a white woman seeking a “rich, black male”, or a “gold digger” as he refers to that action in the song of the same name. However, he talks about how Kim Kardashian has dated black men that are not rich, so it is not always about the money.
His speech touched on many subjects, including that he and Kim Kardashian are raising a black child and the difficulties that come with that. His speeches are often related to “rants” and other one sided arguments, but the critics thought this was the first time that Kanye West made since while on stage and that it was a breath of fresh air coming from a person that usually creates controversy. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have been married since last May and it has been a wild ride.
