Rockstar Games, the developer of the open-world action adventure video game “Grand Theft Auto V,” appears to be testing the patience of gamers and fans when it announced yet again the delay in the release of the game on the PC.
From the planned March 24 release when it announced the delayed release in January, Rockstar said that “Grand Theft Auto V” will now be released on April 14 instead.
This is the third delay on the PC release of “Grand Theft Auto V” since November last year and Rockstar explained that the delay has something to do with its efforts to continue polishing the game until it becomes perfect by its standards, cites India Today Tech.
“Grand Theft Auto V” was released to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 18, 2014. Months before the official release to the gaming consoles, Rockstar announced that the PC release of the video game will be pushed back to January 27, 2015.
Less than three weeks before January 27, Rockstar announced yet again that it is pushing the PC release of “GTA V” to March 24.
And now, one month before the supposed March 24 release of the video game on the PC, here comes Rockstar again telling that it is pushing the rollout of the game to April 14.
19 months and counting
Ars Technica detailed that based on the history of the video game, “Grand Theft Auto” games normally hit the PC about six to eight months after its release to the console.
“Grand Theft Auto V” has been released on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 on October 2013. It was released on the next-gen gaming consoles, the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One on November 18, 2014.
By April 19, the site said that it would be exactly 574 days or almost 19 months since Rockstar first launched the game on the gaming consoles, which is quite a long time indeed.
Although Rockstar can argue that since November 18, when it released the “GTA V” on the current generation of consoles, April 14 will just be roughly six months, which is still within its typical schedule.
Something to do with the heists DLC
Gamers and fans believe that Rockstar delayed the release of the PC version of “Grand Theft Auto V” in order to justify also the delay in the release of the “GTA Online” heists DLC which was promised by the developer as early as October 2013.
In December 2014 and early January 2015, Rockstar announced that it will finally be releasing the much-anticipated heists DLC before the PC release of “GTA V.” That got so many fans really excited.
So when Rockstar pushed the January 27 release to March 24, it has likewise frustrated gamers since they have to wait again for another two months before the heists DLC is finally released.
With the PC release of “GTA V” moved to April 14, it is also automatic that Rockstar shall delay the release of the heists DLC for the multiplayer version “GTA Online.”
Rockstar’s statement was very clear on that when it said that it wanted to make certain that both heists and the “GTA Online” experience are ready to roll out on day one for the PC. So now it is already clear that the heists DLC would also be release on April 14 as well. There were reports previously that the heists DLC would be released on March 10.
As a form of consolation to gamers who have pre-ordered the game for the supposed PC release on March 24, Rockstar will be granting $200,000 in-game cash that they can use for “GTA Online.”
