Robert Downey Jr Still Doesn’t Discuss Iron Man 4, But Expresses Satisfaction with Development of Tony Stark, And More News!

Robert Downey Jr. is currently working on a variety of movies, and it’s obvious that the actor is keeping himself quite busy. Between “Avengers 2”, “Captain America 3”, as well as “Avengers 3” after that, his schedule is quite tightly packed. And while he seems to be avoiding the topic of “Iron Man 4” as best as possible in public talks, he recently made some remarks about Tony Stark and the way he views the character’s growth so far.

A lot of questions were left unanswered by “Iron Man 3” as the movie ended on a quite dramatic note, leaving many fans wondering about what we’re going to see in the next installment. It’s been hinted that Tony Stark still has some equipment hidden here and there, so the Iron Man is far from gone from the scene.

And while some are speculating that plot-related difficulties are the reason for the lack of an “Iron Man 4” announcement, there could be other answers to that question, particularly related to the price that Robert Downey Jr. has been asking for his performance. There have been rumors that him and the studio have been unable to reach an agreement for what Downey should be paid for a potential “Iron Man 4”, although it’s completely unclear if there’s any truth to those rumors at the moment.

It’s also possible that “Iron Man 4” could happen without Downey, and he was rather amused when asked about the possibility – according to him, it’s entirely possible but it’s not his decision in any way, so he has no control over whether or not he’ll get to play the role of Tony Stark in the next installment.

Some fans have certainly been very skeptical of the idea of seeing another “Iron Man” movie without Robert Downey Jr. in the main role, but knowing the way Hollywood works, it’s an entirely plausible scenario, and it could actually end up working out for the series in the long run – nobody can say for sure.

Robert Downey Jr. said that he’s been very pleased with how Tony Stark has evolved as a character at the same time, and he sees this as a period of “maturing” for the character, something that has benefitted Tony Stark as a whole. There are some interesting nuances in the character’s growth and personality that the producers obviously want to explore, but it’s not clear if we’ll get to see them digging deeper into those issues, or if the next film(s) in the series will take a different turn in their production. It’s clear that many people are starting to get drawn to the series for the quality of its characters though, and not just for the action and visuals.
