The 2015 Chicago Auto Show will run from February 14 until the 22nd, and various popular names in the industry are expected to make an appearance. It’s recently been confirmed that Toyota will be among those, as the company is planning to show their 2016 Tacoma, after giving their fans a chance to see the new truck briefly at the North American Auto Show in January.
Toyota have redesigned the truck in various aspects, both in terms of its mechanics as well as appearance. It will now be powered by a 3.5 liter V6 engine with direct injection, with a 6-speed transmission system. There will be 4 and 6 cylinder engine variants, and it’s worth noting that the 4-cylinder one will only offer an automatic transmission option, while the 6-cylinder engine will also give buyers the choice of a manual transmission.
In addition, the new truck will also have various advanced technological features, including Crawl Control and Multi-terrain Select. Last but not least in this regard, it’s also one of the vehicles that will come with a pre-installed mount for a GoPro, allowing serious enthusiasts to capture their driving experience in all its glory without having to make any modifications to their Tacomas. This is a relatively recent trend that’s been gaining more and more popularity among manufacturers of vehicles aimed at serious enthusiasts, and it’s certainly good to see that it’s picking up.
How much would a buyer have to spend if they want to get their hands on the new 2016 Tacoma? Reports on that vary, and it’s not known what the exact price will be, but most rumors put it at between $21,000 and $30,000, which seems like a reasonable price range for a vehicle of this class.
Will the new 2016 Tacoma break any grounds in its market? It’s probably not wise to go that far with claims about it before it’s been shown in more detail, although it is pretty clear that Toyota are putting a lot of effort into their new truck, and are trying to make it attractive to a broad market, instead of making it a niche vehicle.
This could work out very well for them, provided that the truck has a good price and fuel efficiency, and that Toyota offer plenty of options for their buyers to configure the perfect truck for themselves. Other than that, the company already has a strong enough following among their fans to ensure that they won’t need to put a lot of effort into their advertising once the truck is out. There are reports that Toyota are planning to skip a diesel engine in the list of options that they’re going to provide, which could make sense if they want to attract more budget-conscious buyers.
