After many rumors with multiple different theories about the future of Apple’s iPod Touch 6G, we now have a new one claiming that the device is heading to the market in September this year. According to the latest reports, Apple were planning the launch for September 2014, but they have been forced to delay the device due to an unexpectedly high demand for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, which interfered with the company’s logistics.
Still, the company seems to be well aware of the fact that this market niche is still alive and has plenty of potential, even if it has been shrinking a little bit recently, as the popularity of smartphones has been increasing. Apple are the ones who managed to revolutionize the portable music player scene years ago, so if anyone can revive the trend today, it’s probably them.
They would certainly have to refresh their feature set a little bit though, but if the rumors are true, the iPod Touch 6G will actually not be that different from the iPhone 6 in terms of physical design, so Apple are probably not aiming for anything extraordinary with this device.
Not that they need a revolution at this point, but they might in a few years, as the popularity of music players has been getting lower and lower. There have even been rumors that Apple are planning to completely scrap the iPod line in favor of the iPhone and iPad, but those remain unconfirmed. Not only that, but the volume of positive rumors about the iPod Touch 6G is probably a good indication that these “leaks” have been false.
In terms of software features, the iPod Touch 6G is expected to be basically a stripped down version of the iPhone 6, removing calling and texting functionality, as well as anything else that relies on cellular connectivity, but preserving the overall philosophy and design direction. The iPhone 6 was quite successful, and a device with a similar form factor and software functionality could be a winning release if they price it accordingly.
After that, the success of the iPod Touch 6G when it comes out on the market should determine if Apple will continue the line or not. This is likely a critical release for them, if there was ever any truth to the rumors about their plans to scrap the iPod line, and the company will likely be watching very closely to see how the device performs on the market, including monitoring online discussions about it. The Internet has become a powerful marketing tool for tech companies for multiple reasons, and being able to respond to customer opinions immediately is definitely one of the major ones.

Does it have touch I’d?
The 4.7 inch device could be called ipod touch while the larger device could be called baby Ipad and then it could even have a six inch so as to enable customers to do a lot more with it as well as enabling it to be the most portable of all the ipads. I personally love the idea of a media device that has six inches of screen. It has in my opinion a longer life span as far as gadget usefulness is concerned. The portability aspect is respected to it fullest. For me the mini Ipad is just too large.
Let us see if Apple understand this and work on the size issue of the Ipad /ipod line up as far as pocketability and the ladies’ purses are concerned.
