Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Abbas Araqchi said that Iran-IAEA agreement includes the form of cooperation, and not the principles.
“The change made in the new Iranian approach in its interaction with the agency is not a shift in fundamental positions and principles, but it is in the approach and cooperation framework, and any cooperation beyond safeguards commitment should come under specific and clear framework,” the member of Iranian nuclear negotiating team said.
He further added responding to some ambiguities on Iranian nuclear issue means cooperation beyond safeguards agreement between Iran and the IAE.
Araqchi continued that Iran has always stressed that any cooperation beyond its commitment should be in a clear framework agreed both by Iran and the International Atomic Energy (IAEA).
He added the new Iranian proposal to the agency is about the ‘way’ and ‘form’ of cooperation and does not include ‘content’, but also deals with past and future nuclear issues.
“Iran has presented more rational frameworks to the other side in its new proposal in a way which can pass it from the current deadlock.”
