4 Great Features Introduced in Android Nougat 7.0, New OS Comes with Excellent Improvements, And More!

A lot of people are excited about upgrading to Android Nougat 7.0. Besides new core features like enhanced notifications and split screen mode, there are a lot of other features that can be explored while tuning up your phone.

Firstly, there is a clear-all button for applications. In the earlier Android versions, you needed to tap the overview button located on the bottom-right part of the screen which displayed all the running apps. After that, you had to close them by swiping through one by one. With Nougat, you can close all the running apps at once.

After pressing the overview button, you can drag down the notifications and shut them all at once by tapping ‘clear all’. There is a great new feature in Android Nougat which lets you input information during emergencies.

Once the info is inputted, any person can access it during an emergency even while the screen is locked. It can be accessed by going to the main settings menu and choosing a user, followed by tapping down on the emergency button. Once you are there, you will find two screens.

A variety of information related to emergencies can be inputted into the first. These include blood type, allergies, medications and others. With the second screen, you can list contacts during emergency situations. IOS 8 of Apple had a form of emergency contact input available, but this is the first time that such a feature has been introduced in Android.

With Android Nougat, you gain more power to customize your device using the System UI Tuner. You can enable it by swiping down at the top of the screen and using the Quick Settings Menu. After that, you have to press and hold down the settings bar till it starts spinning. You will receive a prompt to enable this tool.

Using that, you can adjust what you wish to see in the status bar located at the top of the screen. You can make further adjustments in the Do Not Disturb Settings of your phone. A System UI Tuner was present in Marshmallow but with Nougat, you get an additional feature through which you can position different kinds of notifications based on importance.

You can make any application run in the split-screen mode. However, the problem is that all apps won’t be automatically compatible. You can use Developer Options to make any application work in the Multi-Screen mode.

Android Nougat 7.0 comes with a lot of necessary improvements. With the new and much-improved Doze feature, battery life has been enhanced. With Doze, while the screen was off and the phone wasn’t moving, the device would burn lesser amounts of battery. However, the phone needed to be stationary for it to work.

For example, Doze wouldn’t work with a user walking with the phone moving in his pocket. However, with Nougat, Doze gets activated as soon as the screen goes off. It doesn’t matter whether the phone is moving. Keep in mind that there have been issues where Android Nougat decreased the battery life of Nexus 6P, but people from Huawei are currently working on it.

The notifications have been revamped in Android Nougat due to which their feel, use, and look different. Notifications fill the entire screen while appearing to be wider. Moreover, there is less vertical space within notifications. Depending on the application, a notification can be tapped to initiate a direct reply instead of opening the app again.
