The 2017 Jaguar F-Pace is the first ever SUV of the British luxury carmaker Jaguar Land Rover and it is set to officially make it to the motoring retail markets all over the world in July.
Ever since its official unveiling at the Frankfurt International Auto Show in September last year and then again at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2015, the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace has become one of the most widely-anticipated vehicles in the very competitive and nearly saturated SUV market.
Motoring enthusiasts and critics are one in predicting that the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace is going to be the British luxury carmaker’s bestseller when it hits the market in the second half of this year.
Mike Cross, the lead engineer of Jaguar Land Rover, also agrees with the prediction and said that he is convinced that the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace is going to be the most important Jaguar ever, notes Drive of Australia.
The vehicle was officially launched in Montenegro in Europe this week. The 2017 Jaguar F-Pace also reaffirmed the observations of some critics that is is arguably the single largest range makeover in Jaguar history.
Retail price and trim levels
According to reports, the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace will come out with a base price of $74,340, pitting it directly against the Porsche Macan and the BMW X4.
It shall also come in five variants including an initial First Edition which shall be the top-of-the-line range. The rest of the line-up includes the Prestige, the R-Sport, the Portfolio, and the S.
Its base model variant shall boast of 19-inch alloy wheels, leather interior, 38-watt 11-speaker sound system, eight-inch infotainment touch screen with navigation, keyless ignition, power tailgate, reversing camera and parking sensors, Xenon headlights, and torque vectoring by braking.
All its variants will come with the four-wheel drive via an eight-speed transmission. The 2017 Jaguar F-Pace will not come with a manual version but the vehicle is also ideal for venturing off-road. The vehicle is capable of doing all the things that one would expect from a modern Jaguar but it delivers so much more.
Outselling the entire current lineup
Meanwhile, analysts believe that the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace should easily outsell the entire current lineup, which posted 16,000 units of sales in the US in 2015. That’s quite paltry compared to the Land Rover’s sales output of 51,000 units in America also last year, details Car and Driver.
The 2017 Jaguar F-Pace underpins the BMW 3-series which has been competing head-on with the Jaguar XE and the next-generation mid-size XF.
The SUV shall come with a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine capable of exuding 340 horsepower. It is a strong and smooth engine due to its counter-rotating balancers.
There is also the 2.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine variant, which is part of Jaguar Land Rover’s new Ingenium engine family that finally weans Jaguar Land Rover off Ford’s four-cylinder engines.
Reports also have it that four-cylinder diesel engine variants will also be available to customers in different parts of the world. There is also a high probability that those diesel engine variants might eventually make it to the US market as well.
As the first SUV to come from the British luxury carmaker Jaguar Land Rover, there have been insinuations that the upcoming 2017 Jaguar F-Pace is the latest iteration to the Land Rover Defender from its sister firm, Land Rover.
Jaguar clarified that it is not because it will be positioning the 2017 F-Pace as a key rival to the Porsche Macan as well as the other high-end SUVs from the other luxury carmakers including Mercedes-Benz and Audi among others.
