The 2017 Jaguar F-Pace will be the first ever entry of British luxury carmaker Jaguar Land Rover in the SUV segment and it seems that based on the initial reviews of motoring experts after its official debut during the Frankfurt International Auto Show in September last year, the vehicle is expected to take the market by storm when it officially hits the market later this year.
The SUV actually combines an efficient design with superb state-of-the-art technologies to ensure a great driving experience. The 2017 Jaguar F-Pace looks sporty enough for urban use and has the right amount of ruggedness for off-road adventures, notes Spy Car Release.
The first ever Jaguar SUV is heavily based on Jaguar C-X17 concept car. But much of its design cues have been borrowed from the sedan lineup of the British luxury carmaker, particularly its XE and XF models.
Apparently, the name of the company’s first SUV has something to do with one of the maxims of William Lyon, one of the co-founders of Jaguar Land Rover. He said back then that all Jaguar models had to have the grace, pace, and space. Apparently the upcoming SUV of Jaguar Land Rover exudes all those criteria, and thus the company decided to call it as F-Pace.
Perfect dimensions
The 2017 Jaguar F-Pace also exudes the perfect dimensions for an SUV. It is 186.3 inches long, 86.6 inches wide and 65.6 inches high. Its wheelbase length is 113.1 inches long while maintaining a respectable ground clearance of 8.4 inches, details Top Cars.
It is also very light in weight because it extensively made use of recycled aluminum combined with high-strength steel, and thus has an overall weight of only 3,913 pounds.
The doors of the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace is made from steel to make its weight efficient.
The SUV is also very roomy and shall comfortably seat five passengers including the driver. It has a spacious luggage compartment capacity of 23.3 cubic feet which can further be increased to 61.4 cubic feet if rear seats are folded down.
High on safety
The most important element in the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace is safety. The SUV includes some safety technologies including adaptive cruise controls, traffic sign recognition, monitor for the blind spot, and warning systems when it detects the driver is drowsy.
It is also equipped with semi-automatic parking system that will help the driver to steer in parking spaces and F-Pace also uses automatic emergency braking system.
The 2017 Jaguar F-Pace technology also offers different modes of driving according to the condition of the road such as snow and icy, wet, or gravel. The system is called Adaptive Surface Response that helps the driver adjust the throttle, DSC response for road condition, and transmission.
The sporty crossover SUV also features curving rear quarters, four mesh grilles on its front end, a signature LED lighting pattern embedded in its slim headlights, and semi-circular taillights also made up of LEDs.
The interiors of the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace actually resemble the cabins of the Jaguar sedans in terms of elegance, design, and roominess. There is ample space provided on top, mostly dedicated to digital displays.
The 2017 F-Pace comes in various engine choices depending on whether the consumer is looking for either a lower output or a higher output of the same 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine.
Utilizing direct injection and Rootes-type supercharging, the engine comes in 340-horsepower and 380-horsepower ‘S’ editions. Both are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission though the 380-horsepower variant gets paddle controls for the transmission.
The F-Pace S version with 380 horsepower is also capable of going from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 155 miles per hour.
