Last week, it has already been confirmed by Ford that two of the four SUVs that will be coming out from its end beginning next year are the Bronco and the Ranger. While it would be interesting to know what the two other brands are, the fact that the Bronco has already been confirmed is more than enough for enthusiasts to be really excited with the upcoming Ford offerings.
After all, the last time that the iconic Bronco brand came out was in 1996 before it got embroiled in that O.J. Simpson police car chase controversy.
It could have been because of the controversy that Ford Motor Company decided to lie low and halt production of the Bronco to take the heat off but 20 years is such a long hiatus already.
But the good thing about it is that the two-decade absence of the Bronco in circulation only strengthened the interest in the brand which is why when the 2016 Ford Bronco rumors broke out on April 1, 2014, almost everybody got caught on the hoax.
Now that the 2016 Ford Bronco rumors are things of the past, the 2017 Ford Bronco speculations followed suit. But unlike the 2016 Ford Bronco, the 2017 Ford Bronco reports have better legs to stand on since the American car manufacturer already confirmed the Bronco early this year and that it would be releasing four new SUVs for the next four years beginning next year.
According to the rumored features and specifications of the 2017 Ford Bronco, the vehicle shall combine the design solutions of the other new Ford SUV models.
As to which SUV models it would be, it is almost sure that one of them is the latest F-150 model, according to Frog Cars.
The 2017 Ford Bronco, just like the Ford F-150, shall have a massive chrome grille, to give the brand a strong attitude while it will also feature two pairs of LED headlights. Advanced fog lights will be added for better visibility in all conditions.
Too long to deliver the production model
Ford actually unveiled a concept of the new Bronco back in 2004 during the North American International Auto Show held in Detroit, Michigan.
However, it has been 12 years since the Bronco concept was shown but the production model has yet to be released, notes Ford Cars Info.
Since the discontinuation of the production of the Bronco 20 years ago, the market has not seen any model that come close to the features and personality that the iconic truck brand stood for.
But given the popularity of the brand, it would be an underperformance for Ford if it would not make the new Bronco as good as it is supposed to be because the expectations of fans will be up in the clouds. That is a lot of pressure but many are confident that Ford shall be able to deliver a perfect Bronco.
As to whether it will happen in 2017, 2018, 2019, or 2020, that remains to be seen.
To be built in Michigan
According to some reports, the 2017 Ford Bronco will be built on the Ford Ranger reports platform. After all, the American carmaker has a crossover currently based on the Ranger and it’s the Ford Everest.
This means that the US model of the car, the Bronco, will most likely be based on the same platform as well as a decent number of parts.
The vehicle shall be using a body on frame chassis and that it will be built in the same factory side by side with the Ranger in Detroit, Michigan.
The exterior of the car is deliberately primitive and brutal. It will have a square shape as if it is cut from a single piece of metal featuring large round xenon headlights, squeezed onto the sides of the rough grille lattice in the middle of which is flaunted the inscription ‘Bronco.’
