There have been various rumors and alleged leaked shots of the upcoming 2016 Volvo S90, a highly anticipated car that is likely going to offer quite a lot if even half of those rumors turn out to be true. Of course, it’s still a bit too early to consider that possibility and to argue about the car’s features, but fans of the brand certainly love to discuss the possibilities for its future development and what we might see in the new S90.
Just recently we’ve seen another round of leaked shots that showed some details about the S90, possibly confirming that an earlier leak with concept details was correct about the overall size and proportions of the car. The new pictures are actual spy shots that show the model itself, they’re not just renders or concept art, so they are a bit better in terms of showing off exactly what people should expect from the 2016 Volvo S90.
The car is reportedly strongly inspired by the Volvo XC90, and it’s going to be an attempt by the company to secure a nice chunk of the market for themselves – which, at a time when other manufacturers are getting bolder and more aggressive, could be a well-placed move. Hopefully Volvo are going to successfully convince people that their offer is the one that they want to see, because marketing has been getting particularly competitive between all companies involved.
Volvo, however, don’t want to start up the hype on their end before they’re actually ready to preview the car to the market. Because of this, the company has been keeping quiet about the latest leak – as they did with the ones before that – and we’re likely not going to hear anything from Volvo themselves until sometime next year when they are ready to speak about the new S90 in detail to the public.
At this point, the company can’t really hide their work on the model much longer though, and people are starting to expect some pretty amazing things from the new S90 – so it might make a little sense for Volvo to come out and say something about the model themselves, in order to avoid possibly disappointing their customers in the future once the official details are announced.
Because if it turns out that the actual car is not quite like it was depicted in the initial leaks and doesn’t match the expectations that those leaks set in people’s minds, that could be a problem for Volvo. It wouldn’t be the first time that consumers would have been misled by incorrect rumors and unconfirmed information, and this sort of thing can actually be very damaging for the popularity of a model once it’s released to the market.
What we do know from Volvo on the official front is that they want to experiment with making this model a little more independent and letting it carve its own path in the market instead of developing it with the same style that they’re used to and following the same path.
Could that mean the birth of a new line from Volvo? That would indeed be an interesting development, but we can’t say for sure how likely it is to happen right now. Many people have been discussing the future of Volvo and their presence on the market, and while it’s clear that the company is here to stay, we have no idea how they are going to approach the segmenting of their different offers.
