But of course, even that isn’t going to work out well for them – it would just mean that they are surrendering some of their market positions to their competitors. If Volkswagen are forced to cut back on their releases and postpone them until later, this could have some very serious repercussions for their competitive ability.
Not all hope seems to be lost for the company yet though – they seem somewhat active in their talks with the public and they are trying to make amends for the huge disaster that they have created.
We will probably see things returning to normal in a few months if there are no other major scandals related to Volkswagen. After that, they should be able to resume their regular releases and should be able to see the kind of success that they were predicting initially.
On the other hand, if the company is unlucky enough to be hit by yet another major controversy in the meantime, that could easily spell their end if the situation is bad enough. Volkswagen’s reputation is already on shaky grounds and another bit of negativity could easily push them in the wrong direction and conclude things. Hopefully the release of the 2016 Passat as well as a few other vehicles are going to make up for the current situation.
