In the end, people aren’t looking for that much from a sedan in this class, and as long as the Passat offers a comfortable ride at an adequate price, it should get a lot of attention from many directions.
What could the future hold for that line, on the other hand? This is the big question for many fans of the Passat right now. Volkswagen have done a lot to change the car’s design for this iteration, but their changes might not be over yet.
Are we going to see an even more drastic redesign for the next edition? Or are Volkswagen going to try and settle down into a certain style that works well? Both are possible, but if the company sees some good results with the 2016 model, it might be a smart idea to try and make those changes more permanent.
We don’t expect the Passat to drop in popularity anytime soon, in any case – even if Volkswagen somehow get it completely wrong, the brand still has enough momentum on the market to withstand at least one poor iteration. Beyond that however, we can’t really say – how well the brand will hold up in the future depends on many factors, including the way the market changes as a whole.
They can keep the cars and the lies for themselves ;) Think VW will be in financial difficulties in 2016…
