Toyota has raised the bar again in the midsize pickup market with the 2016 Tacoma, taking competition in its class not only by storm but also raising it to the next level.
Once it officially rolls out to the North and South American markets, the all-new 2016 Toyota Tacoma is likewise expected to set the benchmark for performance among midsize pickups in available in the market today.
It also helps that the Tacoma is being manufactured by the Japanese carmaker in its plant in the US which makes the pickup’s redesign ideal for the American motorists.
The 2016 Toyota Tacoma is touted to battle it out with contenders Nissan Frontier, Chevrolet Colorado, RAM 1500 and the Honda Ridgeline.
The latest edition of the Toyota Tacoma is a major redesign from its previous appearance, but the pickup has maintained the heritage of unwavering capability and unbreakable attitude in terms of exterior and interior stylings as well as its power drivetrain.
Second generation models
The 2016 Toyota Tacoma is part of the second generation models that was started in 2005. The current model features not only major facelift in the exterior and interiors but also its engineering make and what drives the pickup from under the hood, cites the Toyota website.
Powered by the all-new 3.5-liter Atkinson cycle V6 engine with direct injection and six-speed transmission, which is the first in the midsize pickup market, the power drivetrain of the 2016 Toyota Tacoma is more powerful and fuel-efficient than ever before.
Traditional pickup enthusiasts however were a bit disappointed upon learning that Toyota will not be making available the six-speed manual transmission with the Tacoma’s base model that uses the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine.
The Tacoma brand has been one of the bankable vehicle lines of Toyota in the American market and its impressive global sales since it introduced the line in 1995 is a testament to it. Its latest redesign only shows that Toyota has been continuously working to ensure the constant evolution of the Tacoma.
Innovative features
The 2016 Toyota Tacoma also sports innovative technological features including the crawl control and the multi-terrain select, which makes it a real ideal all-terrain vehicle.
In terms of its cabin, the pickup is loaded with high-tech features including the Qi wireless charging, push-button start, blind spot monitor, among the usual standard infotainment accessories found in most modern vehicles today.
The 2016 Toyota Tacoma will come with the standard GoPro mount which will enable the driver and its passengers to get all the adventure on video, which is not only the first in its class, but actually the first for any vehicle.
Toyota is confident that these new features would once again reinforce the Toyota Tacoma as the best-selling midsize pickup truck in the American market capable of literally and figuratively going places.

“Toyota has raised the bar again in the midsize pickup market with the 2016 Tacoma, taking competition in its class not only by storm but also raising it to the next level.” – Really? You didn’t say how. You mention an upgrade to the engine and improved gas economy but provide no numbers. Everything is speculation. The only thing that sounded firm was a go pro mount. Hardly raising the bar for the market.
