2016 Toyota Tacoma to be Equipped with Long-Sought Locking Tailgates

It may be a small detail but the previous models of the Toyota Tacoma do not have locking tailgates when they roll out of the assembly plant.

The most that the past Toyota Tacoma models can come up with are non-locking tailgates, which are often at risk of being stolen since it can be removed without the use of any special tools at all.

In order to secure the tailgates from possible theft, Tacoma owners have resorted to various strategies including the use of zip ties all the way to utilizing elaborate power locks mounted in the cabin.

But that will be a thing of the past with the 2016 Toyota Tacoma as the new pickup truck will have locking tailgates when they roll out of the factory and it shall come with a new tailgate handle too, notes Torque News.

Toyota has confirmed that the locking tailgates will be standard equipment on all models of the 2016 Toyota Tacoma.

However, the upcoming 2016 Toyota Tacoma has one other minute detail that seems to be missing from it and this was pointed out by Mike Swears, Toyota Tacoma chief engineer, when he said that the all-new pickup truck does not have a seatbelt bracket.

The other major consumer clamor for the Tacoma is that the pickup truck does not come with a diesel engine variant, even for its 2016 edition. So if Toyota would take note of that and come up with one in the next iteration of the Toyota Tacoma for the North and South American markets, the pickup truck would really be in a class of its own.

True king-of-the-hill

The major redesign of the 2016 Toyota Tacoma has reinforced the pickup truck’s status as the true king-of-the-hill and off-road monster in North and South American markets, which would enable it to hold its own against worthy competitors in its class as well as dominate the mid-sized truck segment.

When it rolls out in the market soon, 2016 Toyota Tacoma will be in the market along with the other premiere pickup trucks including the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, the 2015 Nissan Frontier, the 2015 RAM 1500, and the 2016 Honda Ridgeline.

The new pickup truck from Toyota has been equipped with an all-new powertrain that is further complemented by its superb suspension which enable the 2016 Tacoma to maintain its excellent handling capability particularly in off-road adventures.

The 2016 Toyota Tacoma is also bringing with it its proven reliability, dependability, and flawless performance which its predecessor models have shown in the past.

While its market dominance remains to be seen, the Japanese carmaker can surely beat all its competitors and secure the top spot in its segment if it plays its cards right, considering that the Tacoma is a highly popular pickup truck in the North and South American markets.
