Even though Toyota’s Tacoma has been quite successful, its new editions might face some issues when it hits the market, according to experts, and Toyota should be very careful to ensure that the truck will get the appropriate amount of positive reception. They have various competitors coming up from all sides, and the company shouldn’t rely on their previous success exclusively if they want to maintain their strong position on the market.
At least the problems they’re facing are “good” ones, as one of the major issues for the company right now has been the lack of adequate production to meet current market demands. According to reports, various dealers for Toyota have been complaining about a shortage of trucks, not just the Tacoma but also the Tundra.
This has so far happened in at least a dozen regions, so it’s clear that Toyota should step up their production game if they don’t want to be left behind. The current situation shows a very clear demand for more trucks, and if Toyota fail to satisfy that demand, someone else will surely jump in to fill the niche.
In particular, General Motors have been speeding up their work on the Chevy Colorado, increasing the output of their production lines significantly in order to accommodate to the current market demand. This has been commended as a smart, logical move by experts, and some have noted that Toyota can benefit from doing the same for the 2016 Tacoma if they want to seriously compete with Chevrolet.
The last model in the Tacoma line managed to score 155,000 sales last year, and Toyota are reportedly aiming to beat that record with this year’s model. Unless they step up the truck’s production however, that might not be as feasible as it sounds. And indeed, Toyota have apparently realized that, as they’ve reportedly added a third production shift at their assembly plant in Baja California, which brought up the annual output of the facility to 84,000 units.
The truck has great specifications, and it’s been receiving a lot of positive attention from auto lovers, so it’s clear that Toyota have a very real short at success with this model if they just manage to produce enough of it to meet current market demands. They’re a company with an established track history and they know what they’re doing, so hopefully they will handle the situation correctly. Plus, it could benefit them over the next years to have a stronger production line, if they release a model that’s even more successful and in greater demand than the 2016 Tacoma, which is very likely if the 2016 Tacoma itself manages to attract enough attention.
