2016 Toyota Tacoma Headed for California, Will It Take Over the American Market

Toyota’s Tacoma has been enjoying a great deal of popularity on the American market over the last decade, and now the company is preparing to launch the next installment in the line, the 2016 edition of the truck. After recently confirming that the truck will be on sale in California, Toyota raised the obvious question: is the company about to take the American market by storm and live up to their previous reputation?

The redesigned 2016 Tacoma does seem impressive indeed, and it’s packing various features that should make it particularly attractive to drivers in the Southern California region, such as Crawl Control and Multi-train select. It’s overall reported to be a highly versatile vehicle, aimed at drivers who know exactly what they’re looking for from their trucks, and need a truck that is not going to leave them stranded even in more difficult conditions.

It’s already alleged to be “one of the top 5 cars that matter at the Detroit Auto Show”, and many fans of the brand are obviously excited to see what Toyota are going to unveil at the event. So far, it looks like they haven’t taken any drastic risks in the redesign of the Tacoma, but have rather taken a more conservative approach that simply builds on what the truck already did well.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that it lacks any improvements – quite on the contrary, the new 2016 Tacoma will have various extra features that should make it a more attractive offer to a wider range of potential buyers, so it’s definitely something we should be on the lookout on.

The options Toyota will be offering for the new Tacoma include 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder engines, with the 4-cylinder model being offered with 6-speed automatic transmission as the only option. On the other hand, the 3.5 liter V-6 engine will give buyers a choice between either manual or automatic gearboxes. The new engine also has the advanced new D4-S technology, which gives the truck the ability to switch from port injection when it’s under low loads, to direct injection at higher rates.

Interested buyers can expect to pay between $21,000 to $30,000 depending on the features they want to get, but the base price is already attractive enough that it’s guaranteed to turn a lot of eyes in the direction of the Tacoma. Toyota seemingly have a clear winner on their hands, and it would be very interesting to see how their new entry into the American market compares against some of the local-made offers. American trucks are definitely very popular in the US and they have traditionally given Toyota solid competition, and there’s every reason to believe that this will be the case now as well.
