In the end, people seem fond of the appearance of the new HiLux, and the changes that Toyota have implemented in the truck have apparently been expected for a long time by some of its fans.
Toyota are a bit more cautious when it comes to introducing new changes to the visual design of their models, but the company also seems determined to bring their trucks up to date and even try to set some new trends with them on the market.
People have indeed been paying close attention to Toyota’s HiLux line, and the anticipation for the new 2016 model is undeniable. The company doesn’t have to put a lot of effort into marketing the truck, as we described above, as that’s pretty much taken care of by now.
Is the 2016 HiLux going to enjoy the success that the current market anticipation for it would make one expect? It’s a little too early to tell, but it’s getting pretty clear that many people are preparing their wallets for possibly investing in the new HiLux if it matches their expectations.
It’s a big “IF”. the smaller engine is definately a problem. Nissan shed a lot of buyers by making that move, and while toyota claim to have been talking to owners about what to do with the new model, we have 5 in the family, and i’ve been asking everyone i know with one, and nobody has suggested a smaller engine as an improvement. In fact, quite the opposite. I realise on paper smaler engines can and do produce more power, but in the real world theres no replacement for displacement…. a larger, lower stressed, less turbo reliant (and cooler engine bay) engine tends to be more reliable and less peaky….. I wont be buying the next model.
