Critics however debunked these reports by saying that it would not be a good strategy for Toyota to release the 2016 HiLux in the American market considering that it is also about to officially roll out the 2016 Tacoma very soon.
Apart from the fact that both vehicles will be vying for the same very highly competitive segment in the American motoring market, there is a tendency that one would eventually cannibalize the other’s market.
According to some reports, Toyota will eventually stop producing the Tacoma and will have in its place the HiLux considering that the latter is bigger, more powerful, and more fuel-efficient than the former, which can really rival the entry into the segment of other big name players in the US market like Chevrolet, Ford, GM, among others.
As there is a confirmed 2016 Toyota Tacoma and also a 2016 Toyota HiLux, the possibility of the HiLux replacing the Tacoma in the US market may not happen anytime soon but it could do so a few years down the road, experts believe.
The Japanese carmaker has been trying its best to keep the details, features and specifications of the 2016 Toyota HiLux under wraps, but it has already come out as early as May this year.
