Subaru have been putting a lot of effort into the development of the 2016 WRX, and many people have some serious expectations for the new model. And from what we’ve been able to tell so far, those expectations will be more than justified with the final release, as the company has managed to design and produce something spectacular that should manage to reap solid impressions all across the board.
Test drives of the new car have been completed a few times already, and the common consensus is pretty much universally good. There are various features about the new WRX that make it an excellent choice in the sports category, and even those who aren’t specifically looking for a powerful ride but just want something comfortable for longer trips should find good qualities in the 2016 Subaru WRX.
One of the notes that has been repeated a few times since reviewers started test driving the model has been with regards to its fuel efficiency. Normally, one wouldn’t expect excellent performance from a sports model in this regard, but the 2016 WRX managed to prove everyone wrong by offering some pretty good numbers on the road.
The efficiency isn’t perfect, sure – but it’s still far better than what a driver would expect from a model designed to deliver excellent performance and really burn the road under its wheels. Reviewers have reported figures around 10 liters/100 km outside of cities, which is pretty good for something of this car’s class. As we said above, it’s not perfect, but it’s also above what most of the competition has to offer.
Another point that’s been getting a lot of notice by critics is the quality of the electronic systems inside the car. It’s a very modern experience with various features that make it stand out amidst other models in the same class, and those who enjoy having a complete infotainment experience during their trips should appreciate everything that the 2016 WRX has to offer on the inside.
The car might be a bit pricy, sure – but it’s not a budget model aimed at people who want a cheap ride, it’s clearly a car designed for power-hungry drivers who also want to feel in touch with the latest trends in technology, and Subaru have developed this package in a fantastic way.
The model starts at $37,995 for the base model, and can go up to $45,395 with the right set of features. It’s worth noting that most test drives were reportedly performed on the high-end version that comes with a lot of extra comfort and improvements, which could of course skew impressions somewhat. But in the end, most reviewers have obviously put a lot of effort into trying to be objective and have considered the car for its basic features above all.
The only thing that people have been split about is the exterior design of the car. This, according to most reviewers, is a bit of a “love it or hate it” kind of deal, and it might not immediately appeal to everyone out there.
And while it’s true that the visual design of the new Subaru WRX is definitely an interesting story and we can see how some potential buyers might not enjoy it too much, others have been expressing a lot of positivity over the way Subaru’s designers have handled the job, so it seems to be the kind of situation where opinions are going to play a major role in determining the success of the release on the market.
