2016 Subaru WRX Exudes Better Fuel Economy and More Responsive Suspension for Great Handling and Maneuverability

The 2016 Subaru WRX is a sporty-looking performance sedan that drives like a sports car minus the hefty price. That is why it is also referred to as a sublime sports car.

Compared to its predecessor variants, the 2016 Subaru WRX has better fuel economy and much more responsive suspension set-up, giving the driver excellent control, handling, and maneuverability of the sedan. These characteristics are considered rare for a turbocharged car.

The 2016 Subaru WRX is a speed-oriented sedan that ensures speed and high-level performance regardless of the kind of road, terrain, or even weather conditions. It has the power of Subaru written all over it although in a bit of a smaller package compared to the other vehicle lines in the Japanese car manufacturer’s roster.

For the price of $27,000 for its base model, the direct-injection turbocharged engine of the 2016 Subaru WRX has a maximum power of 268 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of maximum torque, which makes it a fairly decent bargain to those who knows stuff about performance cars. Prices of the other variants go up from $2,000 to $4,000 due to additional features and accessories, details the Realty Today.

In addition to the standard all-while-drive feature that comes with all of Subaru’s vehicles, the infotainment features on the 2016 Subaru WRX is also practically the same as most of the car manufacturer’s latest vehicles. The controls of the infotainment console are mounted on the steering wheel, giving the driver ease of access and control to everything happening in the cabin.

A powerful sports car

The 2016 Subaru WRX may not be as fast as the Subaru STI which has the racing pedigree written all over it or as expensive, but the 2016 Subaru WRX is a remarkable and powerful sports car too and at a price that is about $8,000 less than the STI.

The sedan also has a quick-ratio electric power steering for sharper turns which reacts in as fast as 100 milliseconds to steering inputs, notes the Cheat Sheet.

Tony Barber, co-owner of Subaru specialist shop Turn in Concepts believes that the 2016 Subaru WRX do have its few share of drawbacks as there is no such thing really as a perfect car. But the best features of the performance sedan actually far outweigh its shortcomings.

As far as drawbacks are concerned, the front of the 2016 Subaru WRX looks very common and if it were not for the multi-port exhaust at its back, most people would pass it off as an ordinary commuter car. The vehicle’s advanced engine control technology makes turning rather tough. Another drawback is the continuing upward price of the base model every time a new edition is introduced.

Trunk spoiler option

Subaru has also given buyers of its 2016 WRX STI performance sedan a choice of whether to go big or small in terms of trunk spoiler design with no additional cost at all.

Buyers can opt for the big wing spoiler and have the large signature on the back that the WRX STI variant has been known for, or they can prefer to get the new low profile trunk spoiler.

The big signature wing of the Subaru WRX STI model is functional because it serves a very specific purpose. It keeps the rear wheels firmly planted on the ground when the sedan goes on high speeds. The faster the sedan goes, the more downforce it provides in the rear like the flap in an airplane as it touches down the runway and helps in slowing it down.

Some users think however that the big spoiler looks hideous and is often compared to a clothesline.

Possessing the big wing on the Subaru WRX STI also makes owners of the performance sedan a target for local law enforcers. Without the wing, it is easier for them to go undetected by cops as the STI would really look like a standard all-wheel drive Subaru sedan.
