The brand new 2016 Kia Sorento is a grand attraction at the Los Angeles Motor Show, so much so that the vehicle is all set to hit the roads. This vehicle was first unveiled in Paris on September this year, but its American debut at LA is an undoubted success.
This particular 3rd-generation crossover was structured as well as designed especially for the local market. Needless to say, the first look has been amazing indeed. It flaunted sheer power with its 185 BHP powered 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder gasoline-powered engine block.
Other variations are also available, featuring a brand new 240 BHP displacing 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine block as well as a 290 BHP displacing 3.3-liter V6 engine block. These variants are hooked on to an associated six-speed automatic gearbox with the new Sportmatic Shift Technology from Kia.
Several announcements were made stating that five trim levels will be available to the US buyers namely L, LX, EX, SX and SXL variants. The US version of this car features some additional specs that distinguish it with the Euro-spec model.
On the exterior front, a new chrome grille has been installed, which incidentally increases the visual aesthetics of the ride from the exterior. In addition to that, the headlights have been renovated as well with the incorporation of an orange color band for greater visibility.
Nothing fancy comes with the basic model, but it looks like a crossover between the Kia Sedona and Toyota Venza. Still, this new generation model features an improved ride length with adequate space for seating 5 to 7 people, depending on the trim level. LED is used all over the exterior as well.
Surprise awaits you when you step inside this new Kia Sorento. Interior styling has improved considerably with a brand new dashboard layout, highlighting the car’s width. Separate controls are available with standard features as well with standard fabric and an optional leather upholstery.
With its amazing interior, this model has been quite successful in wooing the critics, as well as users alike at the LA Motor Show. Kia’s new UVO system with Dual Automated Climate Control and Infotainment System is integrated with the central module for better ride specs.
As far as safety specs are concerned, they are pretty standard with certain improvements available as optional in various trim levels. Six standard airbags are available with Electronic Stability Control and Forward Collision Warning. Blind Spot Detection and Lane Departure Warning features have also been added.
Price specs were not declared during the event, but the 2016 Kia Sorento is likely to hit the dealerships by the 1st quarter of 2015. Stay tuned for additional information on the price and availability of the Kia Sorento.
