2016 Chevy Volt Can Go 53 Miles on Electric Power Before Gas Engine Takes Over, More Information

The 2016 Chevy Volt shall come in two trim levels – the base LT and the uplevel LTZ model. Accordingly, the starting price for the upcoming hybrid vehicle is actually $1,175 less than the 2015 Chevy Volt.

The electric vehicle will also come in seven exterior colors, two cloth and three leather upholstery styles, and two 17-inch alloy wheel designs.

GM has already stopped production of the 2015 Volt to retool for the upcoming model. The rather unusual long production shutdown will enable dealers to clear their inventory of the old model, because sales of the 2015 Chevy Volt have significantly slowed down over the past couple of months after the unveiling of the 2016 Chevy Volt during the Detroit Auto Show in January this year.

Based on the electric car sales report in the US published by EV Obsession for June 2015, the top three electric vehicles were the 2015 Nissan Leaf, the Tesla Model S, and the 2015 Chevy Volt.

The Nissan Leaf and the Tesla Model S were in a neck-and-neck battle for the top spot as only 20 units separated them, 2,074 to 2,054. But the third-running Chevy Volt is quite distant, with a little over half of the sales of each of the first two, at 1,225.
