2016 Chevrolet Camaro Ready to Challenge Iconic Muscle Cars in Terms of Performance!

General Motors (GM) has officially released the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro recently and so far, its impressive performance is what’s attracting many buyers to the iconic muscle car.

While it has maintained the same classic exterior appeal, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is designed with less weight and more power, which translated to superb engine performance.

The apparent weight reduction has helped improved the acceleration features of the 2016 Camaro and add more curb appeal to the coupe. The old sedan-based, bulky Zeta architecture look was replaced by the sleeker, sexier Alpha bones, just like the Cadillac ATS.

In fact, one of its variants, the Camaro SS coupe, which is also called as the Camaro Super Sports edition, can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in four seconds and will cover a quarter of a mile in only 12.3 seconds, with speed hitting 116 miles per hour, notes the Tech Times.

The recorded times were achieved using the 8-speed automatic transmission model. Using the manual transmission variant would add three-tenths of a second to its acceleration as the car can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.3 seconds.

Apart from its superb acceleration, the look of the 2016 Camaro will be evolutionary because Chevrolet will still stick to the coupe’s recognizable exterior. Two inches shorter but an inch wider, Chevrolet has definitely played the weight loss advantage card well. While there are those who argue that there is not much to compare as the design is almost similar to its predecessor, but car enthusiasts and fans may always resort to the adage ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.’

One of the most powerful and fastest cars

According to Latinos Health, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is definitely up to become one of the most powerful and fastest cars to be unveiled this year.

When GM released the official performance figures for the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, questions started arising from the minds of every muscle car enthusiast whether it is equal if not better than the upcoming 2016 Ford Mustang.

If there’s one advantage that the 2016 Camaro has over the 2016 Mustang, it’s the fact that it got to the motoring retail markets early, giving it the headstart over the iconic muscle car from Ford.

It will take a few months before the real head-to-head showdown between the 2016 Camaro and the 2016 Mustang will occur in the market, but the Camaro has already debuted with a price point of $26,695 for turbo and $37,295 for the SS. Ford must get its act together soon to get its Mustang ready in order to match or beat what Chevrolet has to offer.

According to Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer, every Camaro model offers exceptional chassis strength and rigidity but the modular design made the architecture more adaptable and mass-efficient, because they did not have to compensate for the unique demands of the SS convertible when building a 2.0-liter coupe.

The base model of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro comes with the standard 2.0-liter turbo four with 275 horsepower of power and 295 lb-ft of torque, while the mid-level V6 will come at 335 horsepower of maximum power and 284 pound-feet of maximum torque.

But the high-end V8 variant will have an amazing 455 horsepower of maximum power and 455 pound-feet of maximum torque. These figures are 12% to 14% improvement from the 2015 high-end model when it comes to power and torque.
