2016 Chevrolet Camaro Makes Encore Appearance at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Immediately after it was formally launch at the Detroit Motor Show in May, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro embarked on a cross-country US tour with the idea of further promoting General Motor’s upcoming muscle car prior to its official market release early next year.

The first stop of its US tour was the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Indy 500 held on May 24, won by Juan Pablo Montoya. The Indy 500 is regarded as the Greatest Spectacle in Racing and Montoya held off teammate Will Power of Team Penske to win the 99th running of the Indy 500.

It was the perfect first stop for the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro as GM is positioning the vehicle as a high-performance muscle car, and might be ideal for a spin in the racetrack if given the opportunity in the future.

Then on July 15, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro was again on display at the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio during the 2015 Major League Baseball All-Star Game which was won by the American League All-Stars over the National League All-Stars with a score of 6-3.

This past weekend, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro made an encore appearance at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the 22nd edition of the NASCAR Brickyard 400 won by Kyle Busch, his third straight victory driving the Toyota Camry, details The News Wheel.

Showing off various models

During the Indy 500, GM put on display a shiny red SS model while at Cincinnati, the American carmaker showcased a blue convertible 2016 Chevrolet Camaro.

On its return to the famous speedway, GM put on display the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro LT1, which features a 6.2-liter V8 engine capable of exuding 460 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 465 pound-feet at 4,600 rpm.

The direct injection Gen V Small-Block V8 crate engine is the most powerful Camaro powertrain ever and it is expected to provide the muscle car some significant get-up-and go attribute, notwithstanding the fact that the curb weight of the vehicle has been reduced by 200 pounds compared to the previous model.

In addition to the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, various 2016 models were also on display at the NASCAR Brickyard 400. Although the Chevy cars did not do well at the race, it was still a great day for motoring and race car fans.

There were also several former Chevy pace cars in attendance during the event including this year’s Chevrolet SS pace car, which was driven by Women’s World Cup champ and Indiana native Lauren Holiday.

Ready for pre-ordering

GM announced last week that it will be making available for pre-orders the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro in August or September, which had fans of the muscle car extremely excited and delighted.

While the carmaker has yet to announce or reveal any details about the pricing of the upcoming vehicle, it has already revealed the key details and features of all the four trim levels of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro with the recently released order guide, notes the Gospel Herald.

The guide indicated a surprise trim level option which is the blacked-out bowtie, which the company has made available only in the current Chevrolet Silverado Midnight Edition. The variant will surely make the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro stand out from its predecessors.

Another new option is the gold illuminated front bowtie which will be the first among Chevrolet’s lines of vehicles.

Based on the order guide, the four different variants of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will feature powerful engines, wireless charging for mobile devices, adaptive suspension, and many more to make the muscle car hit the ground running.

When the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro comes out in the US market later this year, it is expected that GM will cut down to size the advantage of the Ford Mustang in terms of number of muscle cars registered and now out in the streets in America.
