2016 Chevrolet Camaro is Much About Technology and Muscle Car Performance!

The Camaro is one of the iconic muscle cars in history which also include the Mustang and the Challenger, so when Chevrolet, as a subsidiary of General Motors (GM), announced last year that it will be rolling out a 2016 edition of the vehicle, car enthusiasts got excited.

The Camaro also draws popularity and recognition not only among car fanatics but even ordinary people and kids because it is the car before Bumblebee transforms into an Autobot in the popular “Transformers” TV and movie franchise.

While it has maintained the same classic exterior appeal, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro was designed with less weight and more power, which translated to its superb engine performance.

The apparent weight reduction has helped improved the acceleration features of the 2016 Camaro and add more curb appeal to the coupe. The old sedan-based, bulky Zeta architecture look has been replaced by sleeker and sexier Alpha bones similar to the Corvette.

Technology-oriented

But for the first time in the vehicle’s famed history, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is now much about technology as it is about muscle car performance. But it is not just in Camaro that Chevrolet is doing it but in its entire product vehicle lineup, cites The Verge.

These days, the 2016 Camaro and all other Chevrolet vehicles come with standard technological features including Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, LTE, and Wi-Fi.

The interior cabin of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro comes with an improved 7-inch touchscreen color display which is more intuitive than before. However, there is also the optional 8-inch screen and head-up display which is even better and easier on the eye too.

The coupe also comes with a standard rear vision camera, which is meant to avoid the Camaro’s infamous blind spots, which are basically offshoots of its hunkered and beefy exterior design.

It also has a nifty feature that lets the driver adjust the temperature inside the cabin directly from the air vents which saves space on the touch screen display.

Despite the advent of hybrid and electric cars, GM remains bullish on the sales potentials of its muscle car because the difference actually comes when the driver sits behind the wheel and hits the pedal to the metal.

Not too much on looks

The SS variant of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro may not have too much with its new looks, but it sure has plenty of power under the hood, which is the more important feature for those looking to own a muscle car, reports the Daily Sun of Knoxville.

The coupe is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 gasoline engine which exudes maximum strength of 455 horsepower. That is way higher than the other models of the 2016 Camaro, which can ‘only’ generate as much as 335 horsepower for its 2.0-liter V6 gasoline engine.

The V8 engine of the 2016 Camaro SS has the aural performance and the power surging through the veins of the car is hard to miss.

The eight-speed auto transmission variant accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in four seconds flat while the six-speed manual does it in 4.3 seconds. The small steering wheel is great to handle, responds quickly, and the car really does well with its new and impressive front-end grip.

At its acceleration rate, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS can cover a quarter of a mile in only 12.3 seconds, with speeds hitting 116 miles per hour.

Apart from its superb acceleration, the look of the 2016 Camaro will be evolutionary because Chevrolet will still stick to the coupe’s recognizable exterior. Two inches shorter but an inch wider, Chevrolet has definitely played the weight loss advantage card well. While there will be those who will argue that there is not much to compare as the design is almost similar to its predecessor, but car enthusiasts and fans can always resort to the adage ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.’
