Lots of rumors have been circulating about the next releases in Apple’s laptop line-up, and it seems that the more time passes without any concrete official news, the more outrageous those rumors are getting. In the absence of information, people have started to guess in some pretty strange ways. But now, thankfully, we at least have information about the planned release schedule of the next MacBook Pro and Air. And while the news doesn’t completely match what most people were anticipating, it’s still reassuring to see that Apple are moving forward with the new devices.
What exactly is the company planning for the new laptops, and are they going to continue the current trends in their design? Last year was great for MacBook fans, and 2016 could turn out to be even better if some of the rumors about the upcoming laptops are true. Various sources are claiming that Apple are aiming for an even slimmer and lighter design for the new MacBook Pro, something which wouldn’t be surprising given the fact that they have been moving in this direction quite actively lately.
However, if that turns out to be true, it could also bring about other news that may not be that positive to some fans of the company. According to some rumors, Apple are looking into consolidating some of their devices under one line, and if that’s true, then the MacBook Air/Pro pair could be a prime candidate.
The main selling point of the Air line has always been its lightweight, portable design and comfortable form factor. And while it’s still a top notch device on the market in this regard, the Pro has been catching up quite fast. If the new iteration of the Pro brings down the size and weight of the laptop even further, the Air’s existence could eventually become obsolete.
Of course, Apple could also have other plans for the Air line which we are not aware of, and it would be entirely in the company’s style to have something interesting coming up behind the scenes that they have successfully kept a secret for so long. The company knows a thing or two about keeping their secrets under wraps, and they are actually among the more successful tech giants in this aspect.
Let’s also not forget that another line of the company was surrounded by similar rumors a few months ago. Many people were claiming that the iPod is on its way out, having been made obsolete by the iPhone over the years. And yet, the new iPod came out successfully. With that in mind, people should remember to take everything with a grain of salt when it comes to negative rumors about Apple.
Some rumors also point towards increased security in the new device, and this could actually make sense in light of recent events. Apple have shown that they actually value the privacy of their users, so if they end up making the new MacBook Pro even less susceptible to physical attacks and theft, it wouldn’t surprise anyone.
There is still plenty of time before we see what Apple have been preparing behind their closed doors. If the announcement comes in June, then users won’t be able to get their hands on the new laptop for several months, and this gives Apple plenty of time to add even more to it and make adjustments to their design direction based on feedback. And there is certainly no shortage of opinions all over the Internet.
