The new Apple MacBook has been released in March this year and the American tech giant is said to be working on a refresh of its laptop line, the MacBook Air, for a possible release early next year.
While there have been speculations that Apple might consider launching its 2016 MacBook Air in the fall of this year before releasing it to the markets early next year, it seems that the laptop’s launch schedule would depend on when Intel will unveil its new Core M-based Skylake processors, which according to reports, will be the ones to be used on the 2016 MacBook Air.
According to previous reports Intel said that Skylake processors will arrive in the fourth quarter of 2015. If this is true, then a fall launching for the 2016 MacBook Air is unlikely since the processor is not yet available by then. So an early 2016 unveiling date for the refresh on the American tech giant’s laptop line would then be likely.
In terms of appearance, it has been reported by Motley Fool that the 2016 MacBook Air will feature a very slim industrial design and a high-resolution Retina display, which are merely take-offs from the changes that the new Apple MacBook have taken on when it was released last March.
Just like the new Apple MacBook, the 2016 MacBook Air shall most likely adopt the USB-C port but it will not just be a single port that is found in the Apple MacBook but maybe two or three.
It is also expected that the American tech giant would use a high-resolution Retina display for the 2016 MacBook Air because the low-resolution TN panels on the current MacBook Air models are certainly due for upgrade.
2015 MacBook Air variant
The latest version of the laptop line is the 2015 MacBook Air which was officially launched and released in October last year during Apple’s iPad event. But there are rumors that Apple may actually release a 15-inch variant of its 2015 MacBook Air later this year, most likely in October.
However, there is another set of rumors that say that Apple is planning to bring more substantial upgrades to its existing 2015 MacBook Air and come up with the 2016 MacBook Air.
However, instead of an October launching for the 2016 MacBook Air, which should mark one year after the release of the 2015 MacBook Air, it is being speculated that Apple would release it in March 2016.
Just like in the case of the upcoming iPhones from Apple, which also have two sets of rumors, it is interesting to note that there are also two major speculations on the latest iteration for Apple’s upcoming laptop.
So until Apple makes an official statement or announcement to confirm or deny the reports and rumors about the refreshed 2015 MacBook Air or the all-new 2016 MacBook Air, these information are merely speculations for now.
