It’s no secret that the Hilux is one of the most powerful lines under Toyota right now, and the company has been putting a lot of effort into developing it further, and perfecting an already solid formula for the upcoming release of the 2015 Toyota Hilux. It seems that they are planning to seriously improve the pickup model in pretty much every regard imaginable, as the most recent reports indicate a drastic redesign in both performance as well as aesthetics.
The pickup is getting a new engine, first and foremost – according to rumors, the base model will either come with a 2.5-liter or a 3-liter diesel engine, while there will also be a more advanced package that comes with a 4-liter V6 engine instead.
Toyota are apparently also putting a lot more focus on the electronics of the new Hilux, as there will be some seriously advanced circuitry working under the hood, both for assisting the car’s performance, as well as making the driving experience better. Toyota have been hinting for quite a long time that they want to take a more serious approach to the electronics of their vehicles, and the new Hilux is an obvious step in that direction. However, it’s not known if the more advanced technological state of the truck will result in an increased price – there are rumors going in both directions on that topic, so it’s hard to say without an official confirmation from Toyota.
Drivers will also see a significant improvement in the new Hilux’s gas mileage, although it’s not clear yet exactly how much the situation will improve. Reports have been pointing at a radical reevaluation of the way the Hilux uses its gas, however, and this could also be supported by the claims about the new electronics. After car manufacturers hit a barrier in improving gas mileage through engine redesigns, they’ve started to pay more attention to the electronic assisting components in their vehicles, as those have a huge potential for improving the fuel efficiency of a car.
Last but not least, the new Hilux will also apparently spot a different look, at least on the outside. The truck’s basic design philosophy seems to have remained unchanged, as the base shapes and overall style are still recognizable – but the truck has been made noticeably bigger and now looks tougher and more like an off-road machine. There are reports of a new interior design as well, and considering the addition of new electronics, it makes sense that Toyota would want to revise the layout of the truck’s interior. Preview pictures showing how the new Hilux looks on the inside are already circulating the Internet, and getting positive attention.
