2015 Toyota Hilux Details Leaked, Truck Gets Visual Overhaul!

The Toyota Hilux’s 2015 edition is coming in a few months, but Toyota have been keeping the finer details about the pickup truck somewhat secret. The company is apparently waiting to come closer to the release date before they start showing off the major features of the new Hilux, but a recent leak shed some insight into what buyers can expect from the truck.

The “leak” in question is related to several photographs of the vehicle in transit with a camouflage cover, and while they don’t reveal any intricate details about the truck, they show one thing for sure – there has been a major overhaul in the Hilux’s looks, and it looks like the truck’s designers have taken on a new approach in its visual style. For one thing, the new design is noticeably larger than the previous members of the Hilux family, while the front has been made slimmer and somewhat narrower.

Additional elements have been added to the design to make it more interesting horizontally, and according to rumors, there will be a heavier use of chrome in the exterior of the vehicle. Overall, it would appear that Toyota are trying to make some more serious changes to the way they approach the design of the Hilux, and it will be interesting to see how the final model looks like, once the cover has been pulled.

Meanwhile, details on the interior remain practically completely unknown. There has been some speculation regarding the engine that will be powering the 2015 Hilux, but nothing has been confirmed yet, and Toyota have not said anything on the issue themselves. According to one of the more unusual rumors, the truck could get a 4.0 liter V6 engine, although it’s not clear whether this will be powering all variants of the truck, or if it will be limited to high-end editions. It would certainly be a huge step up from what’s traditionally found in this line of trucks, so it’s questionable whether it will be the only option available – if the rumor is true in the first place.

Other rumors are pointing at diesel engines ranging between 2.5 and 3.0 liters, and those predictions seem more reasonable. On the other hand, considering how much Toyota have done to change the exterior design of the vehicle, it wouldn’t be too unexpected to see them making some more drastic changes to the engine and related systems as well. If the experiment is successful, it could certainly open up various interesting possibilities for the future of the line, and it can set a good precedent for its future development, setting it on a trend for more powerful designs.
