Even though recalls are nothing out of the ordinary in the automotive world, Porsche is not one of the companies to get frequently hit with such an issue. In fact, the company has had a relatively consistent successful track record of releases that have been technically sound and solid – and yet, it’s apparent that even Porsche aren’t immune to problems in this regard. It’s recently been revealed that the company has had to recall several cars from its Cayenne line, namely the Cayenne Diesel and Cayenne S, citing mechanical issues due to a manufacturing error.
Specifically, the announcement mentions a misalignment of the front and rear axles of the vehicle, which can lead to dangerous driving conditions. Vehicle handling is directly affected by the issue, according to reports, and this can cause an increased risk of crashing, even though there should be other safety systems in place to minimize that risk.
The announcement further states that Porsche are already in the process of contacting the owners of affected vehicles, and will perform the necessary check-up and repair procedures themselves. The company is going to test the alignment of each vehicle’s rear suspension to ensure that it hasn’t been affected by the manufacturing problems, and for those that have, will retighten and realign everything free of charge.
It should be noted that no official date has been provided for the notification from the company, so it’s possible that affected owners may have to wait a little longer than expected until they can get their vehicles repaired. Owners of a 2015 Porsche Cayenne Diesel or Cayenne S should probably refrain from taking their cars out on the road until it’s been confirmed that they’re not among the affected ones, although judging by how seriously Porsche have been handling this, it shouldn’t take too long for everyone affected to be notified.
So far, this is the only issue that has been reported with the model, so there’s no reason to panic and believe that there could be other potential problems with the technical state of the 2015 Cayenne. Porsche haven’t said anything about other possible technical issues, although some experts have pointed out that a misaligned suspension could potentially lead to much more serious problems if left unfixed.
Those who are worried that their vehicles might be affected by the problem should contact Porsche’s support line at 1-800-767-7243, where they should be able to receive some information. It should be easy to verify the state of a vehicle through its VIN and some other relevant information, and Porsche are reportedly already in the process of finding out who’s affected, so by the time a phone call is made, the company may have already identified an issue with the owner’s vehicle.

I bought my Cayenne S in October 2015 do you think I am effected with the axels?
Just one month after I had the car, one problem appeared. All the cameras went crazy. The rear cam went zoomed, the all round cam went misplaced and the front cam shows upside down picture ‘the road up and sky down’. Till now the local dealers couldn’t find from where this problem is coming.
Do you have any idea?
Thanks,
Alfred
