2015 Jeep Wrangler: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly!

The 2015 Jeep Wrangler is unlike any of its predecessors. This vehicle has improved by a huge margin in terms of refinement and on-road ergonomics, although, it is still a rugged monster underneath. However, this vehicle still features a wobbly steering, stiffer suspension and excessive wind noise, although, the general feel improved quite a bit.

Jeeps are built to take on almost any terrain and just to prove how capable any model can be, we take the street bound, four door, long wheelbase, Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara on a trip through untested terrain. If you are looking at regular off road trips, we would like to recommend the short wheelbase Wrangler Rubicon.

Knowing that the Jeep is built for off-road use, we tested it over grass, not because we were unsure whether it would make it across, but to check how easily it could make the trip and unsurprisingly enough, the 2015 Wrangler rolled over the uneven track like pavement.

Cruising over uneven pavement or rock-strewn roads is effortless, and this vehicle can cruise past them at over 30 – 35 MPH, without breaking a sweat. The suspension is smooth and deals with rough terrains easily. The vehicle is also effortless over soft roads and minor off-road courses. However, the real fun starts once you head into the heart of the wilderness.

We did not get the opportunity to work on something so extensive, although, we were fairly surprised at this street prepped model’s adaptability to the wild. Jeep has thankfully installed Advanced Traction Control, Hill Climb Assist and a range of additional technical features, which makes life a lot easier for the owners.

The 2015 Jeep Wrangler’s greater ground clearance and suspension travel were put to the test, although, they are capable of withstanding a lot more than we could put them through. Surprisingly, even with a mammoth 10.2-inch ground clearance on the thing, body roll is at a minimum.

Even though our test vehicle bounced on the off road track, the tires never slipped, even for a second. This is a confidence-inducing experience, and if you need to visit rough country roads frequently, you might consider opting for the 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The versions that we tested features a 3.6-liter V6 engine block displacing 285 BHP, which might sound insufficient on most counts, but packs in a serious amount of punch for all practical reasons.

We are impressed with Jeep’s latest offering and will get back to you with a detailed review of the on and off road driving experience of the same.
