Jeep are not generally a company known for the gentleness of their designs – ask anyone to describe a random Jeep and the first word they’ll want to use will very likely be “rough”. It’s true that the company’s models were always designed to be serious powerhouses capable of handling any kind of rough terrain, but it seems that Jeep have been trying to tone this down and move in a slightly different direction with their most recent releases. The 2015 Jeep Wrangler is a good example of this, as many reviewers have been pointing out the noticeable “softness” in the vehicle’s overall design.
According to some reviewers, it starts right when one sits down behind the wheel. The interior features a refined, significantly improved design with softer seating, smooth colors and shapes, and a more intuitively arranged instrument panel. Driving the new Wrangler is apparently a pure joy as well, with its smooth transmission, soft suspension and relatively quiet engine (for the kind of power that it outputs).
And while the new Wrangler seems to be okay for urban driving, its true power shines when taken off the road – as one would expect from a Jeep-branded vehicle. Pretty much every reviewer who tested the vehicle made sure to try it out in good off-road conditions, and there seems to be a pretty much universal consensus that the vehicle’s soft looks are quite deceiving – it’s apparently an absolute beast when pushed hard. With its 305 horsepower engine, that shouldn’t be surprising, especially when one also considers the engineering improvements in other areas of the vehicle. Even the most serious, uneven roads are practically no obstacle for the Wrangler.
It’s not a cheap ride, but Jeep aren’t generally known for being popular on the budget market. At the same time, the $32,000 price tag puts the new Wrangler in a more than adequate spot on the market, as it doesn’t seem to have any serious competition in this price class, given its array of features. Some have been commenting that Jeep are selling the new Wrangler too cheaply, but this can be seen as a smart move from the company, as the low competition should mean high sales numbers without any serious effort.
And yet, Jeep don’t seem to be counting on simple word of mouth for the popularity of their new Wrangler, as the marketing behind the new model is quite serious. Anyone who’s heard of the brand has probably already seen the new Wrangler at least once, and Jeep are doing quite a lot to ensure that people know the company is still going strong.
