When it comes to getting great gas mileage on the road, there are very few cars that are worth spending the extra money on. You can buy a hybrid car, then you aren’t going to be hauling anything around town, even though you will be getting 40+ miles per gallon of gas. When you think of vehicles like a 2015 Jeep Renegade, or any other you SUV, you know you are going to be paying a lot more for gas per month because it gets very poor fuel efficiency. That is about to change with the 2015 Jeep Renegade, as it was recently certified by the US EPA for a combined fuel economy of 25 miles per gallon.
This will still not be the most efficient subcompact SUV on the road, but on the highway you are getting 30 miles per gallon, which is pretty good for a Jeep. One of the most important factors that go into purchasing any vehicle, car or truck, is fuel economy. The emphasis on fuel economy has become so great, that car makers are putting extra money into the development of more efficient engine systems. Of course there are many factors that play into your fuel economy, like road conditions, cargo weight, tires, and even the efficiency of your engine.
For the 2015 Jeep Renegade, 30 miles per gallon on the highway is a very good number in terms of competing with other SUVs and crossovers in the same category. Other vehicles that get better gas mileage on the highway, are the Kia Soul and the brand-new Chevy Trax, which both get more than 30 miles per gallon certified by the EPA. Honda, which is one of the top-selling vehicle brands in the United States, offers the Honda HR-V which gets 35+ miles per gallon on the highway. That is pretty good gas mileage, even considering that most of the Honda prices are very competitive in the US car market.
For those that work at Jeep, they know that fuel economy is going to be on every customers checklist when shopping for a new car or truck. According to Jeep CEO Mike Manley, that is one of the reasons they really wanted to make this specific vehicle, knowing what technology they had to make it a more fuel efficient Jeep. Most of the time when you are dealing with four-wheel-drive vehicles, the fuel economy is always quite low, and many customers realize that going into the purchase.
For the 2015 Jeep Renegade, it comes with a smaller 1.4 L four-cylinder engine and that is going to be even more efficient. As it stands right now you can get the Jeep renegade for about $18,000 if you buy the front wheel drive sport model, or up to $27,000 for the renegade Limited model that comes with the four-wheel-drive option. Many car dealers saw the Jeep renegade at auto shows throughout the last 6 months, and could not wait until they were delivered on their own lots.
