Meanwhile, a new Ford Fiesta R5 was recently unveiled, specifically designed to target the Subaru WRX STI and offer some serious competition to it. Initial reception to the reveal has been very positive, but it remains to be seen if Ford are actually going to take Subaru’s market share like they are planning to.
The M-Sport Ford Fiesta R5 comes with a 2.0 liter Ford EcoBoost engine specifically designed by M-Sport for rally championships, and it looks like it’s going to offer some pretty impressive performance, much more than the main model in this line.
Subaru might want to step up their marketing at this point, because they are about to get some pretty serious competition from Ford if Ford’s release ends up successful, and we have every reason to believe that it will right now. In the end though, this is all very beneficial to drivers who are going to get more options to choose from, and all at better prices too. Of course, we’ll have to wait a little for the market to reach that stage.
