The Ford F-150 is not a joke when it comes to performance in general, and it’s one of the more impressive offers by Ford in its market segment – but you can never have too much power, apparently, as a new edition of the truck shows us. Hennessey seem to have been touched by Ford’s decision to end the SVT Raptor line, as they have revealed a new special edition of the 2015 Ford F-150, transforming the truck into a 600 horsepower beast on wheels, which they have called the VelociRaptor.
The project is apparently based on the standard 2015 F-150 model, with an added 5.0 liter V-8 engine, as well as a supercharger with a significant boost to it. Various other aspects of the truck have been upgraded with performance parts as well, and the designers have spared no cost in the materials all over the truck. The final result is a borderline overpowered machine which should perform noticeably better on the road than the original F-150, although it will likely not be everyone’s cup of tea.
This edition is obviously aimed at buyers looking for significantly more power than the standard model offers, and it’s not aimed at everyday drivers who just need something that handles well on the standard road. With its price tag of over $70,000, buyers should really know what they’re looking for if they’re turning their heads in this direction.
But even those who’re interested in the VelociRaptor F-150 will have to be quick with their orders, as it will be a very limited edition – reports state that only 500 units are planned to be produced, and it’s not known how the preorder queue will be handled. It’s likely that most interested buyers have already started contacting Ford for information, so those who want to make sure that they won’t miss their opportunity to get their own F-150 should probably hurry.
There might still be hope for those who’re too late to get their orders in, however – Hennessey have stated that they plan on releasing a separate upgrade package for EcoBoost engine trucks, which will convert them to a VelociRaptor. It’s not known when this is planned to be released, as the company stated that they’re still working on the project, and it’s not known if it will only be limited to F-150 trucks, or if it will also support other models.
However, enthusiasts have already taken the opportunity to start discussing the possibilities with the new upgrade package, and some have even expressed an interest in taking up more advanced, complicated projects that involved the new VelociRaptor upgrade package, depending on what trucks it supports.
