Recently, the 2015 Chevy Colorado was named “Best Pickup” by Cars.com, and there was little arguing in the situation – it was simply hard to name any other choice that would’ve fitted the title better. The award was delivered during a special ceremony at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, where the Colorado received the prestigious title. According to the announcement made by Cars.com through their pickup truck editor Mark Williams, the 2015 Colorado is an excellent all-around combination of features, price and safety, and was an obvious choice for the award as few other models have even come close to its level recently.
The 2015 Chevrolet Colorado can be bought for a little over $20,995 for the base model, and comes in several different versions. It’s a powerful machine, with engines of up to 305 horsepower available, but at the same time it’s also quite economic and achieves an impressive gas mileage for a truck model.
It’s easy to see why Chevrolet have had such an easy time winning this market segment if one looks at the rest of the market right now though – most companies seem to be focusing on making their models bigger and more impressive, and full-sized pickup trucks seem to be all the craze recently. On the other hand, there aren’t many good offers on the mid-sized market, which allowed Chevrolet to make a very easy entry there. And yet, the company didn’t rely on that simple fact to achieve their good results – they had developed a truck that actually delivers on all fronts.
The truck has been praised for its great safety and comfort features, while it also utilizes modern technology quite extensively, more than its predecessors and noticeably more than other trucks in the same price range. The model offers a rearview camera attachment, four USB ports for charging that support all USB-capable devices, and it’s also specifically compatible with iPhone, giving access to “Siri Eyes Free” which can be enabled through the steering wheel.
And yet, as powerful and impressive as the 2015 may be, it’s also a gentle giant. The model comes packed with various extra security features, such as lane departure warning and frontal collision alert, things that we’re not that used to seeing in trucks yet, and have been more prominent in SUVs and other family-oriented vehicles. It’s not clear if this is a new trend that will continue after the 2015 Chevy Colorado, or if other companies will prefer to not follow suit, but it would certainly be a great thing to see the market shifting more actively towards added safety features in truck models.
