These days it is just too easy to take a picture of yourself with your smartphone and share it with all of your friends on social media. There is nothing wrong with that, in fact there are studies that show it can boost your confidence to see that your friends “like” or “retweet” an image that you have posted online. The real problem comes into play when you take a picture of yourself and it is one that you do NOT want shared with ANYONE.
Celebrities have apparently been getting really bad at keeping themselves to themselves and 2014 saw plenty of leaked celebrity photos. One would hope that in this day of the super fast internet and social media that you would stay far away fro things that you do not want others to find online. That is too bad for celebrities that have had their smartphones hacked or the online storage accounts hacked into and leaked all over the internet.
It might come down to just being young and naive, but the youngsters are not the only ones that are getting hacked. One of the more notable names that had photos leaked online was Jennifer Lawrence. She was one of many that had her Apple cloud storage account hacked and passed around on popular social websites all over the place. Lawsuits were dispatched and the finger pointing started up rather quickly at that point. Photos of Kate Upton and Justin Verlander were also leaked online, Kim Kardashian also had nude photos passed around, but she posed nude for magazines and the like so that is not much of a shock.
If you stand back and think about the leaked celebrity photos from this year it is not that easy to think of a name that is not on the list. The list includes names like Ariana Grande, Emily Ratajkowski Winstead and Kirsten Dunst, but that is not all of them, of course. Kardashian was not the only celebrity that got nude on purpose. Keria Knightley posed nude for a magazine this year as well. Other names included Miley Cyrus, Madonna and Rihanna all posed nude for one reason or another.
When you pose nude for a magazine or some other publication, it is a little hard to be mad that your photos are getting around the internet. It is the celebrities that think they are taking an “innocent” photo of themselves that might only be meant for one person, only to wake up in the morning to a barrage of notification, emails and phone calls saying that is not the case.
