Ben Seewald, the husband of Jessa Duggar, is most thankful for son Spurgeon, which he considers as the most precious gift he and his wife have ever received in their life as a couple.
Jessa gave birth to Spurgeon Elliott last month after a long and exhausting 48-hour labor. The baby is named after Charles Spurgeon, a British preacher who lived from 1834 to 1892. Elliot, on the other hand, was given in honor of the late missionaries Jim and Elisabeth Elliot, who worked in South America.
Despite the baby boy’s official full name, Jessa’s family still prefers calling the baby the same name that they used to call him when he was still in the womb of his mother.
In an interview after giving birth, Jessa confirmed that her family still calls her son Quincy despite naming him, Spurgeon Elliot.
Jessa recalled that when she and Ben found out that they were expecting a baby, they talked about a letter theme for their kids and Ben suggested the letter Q.
It was actually a joke, but Ben has started calling their baby in Jessa’s womb as Quincy and the nickname just stuck with both of them and their families.
Enjoying fatherhood
Ben’s love and pride for her son was officially made public during the TLC special titled “Jill & Jessa: Counting On,” the spinoff of “19 Kids and Counting.”
During the special, he was quoted as saying that there are a lot of things he loves about fatherhood. He said that some of those include having his own little guy and the honor of raising him are both a huge responsibility and blessing, details Starpulse.com.
Ben is clearly thrilled with his new role as a father. But he did mention a few downsides to his new role like waking up in the middle of the night to get Spurgeon when he needs them, changing diapers, feeding him, and those sort of things. But those are downsides that he loves doing too, considering it instead as a special experience.
The new father said that he is sure that there will be more difficult things down the road when Spurgeon enters his teenage years.
He is also enjoying his responsibility as a father despite continuously working. He said that he finds it hilarious when he comes home from work and Spurgeon makes funny faces at him.
Blindsided by the scandal
Meanwhile, Jessa is never remiss in posting images of his son on her Instagram account. In one image post on December 9, she also mentioned that Spurgeon was wearing all the cute hand-me-down outfits from Israel, the son of Derrick and Jill Dillard.
Jessa was also quoted as saying in “Jill & Jessa: Counting On” that she was basically blindsided by what her brother Josh had done in what her siblings called on the special as ‘his secret life.’
But she is still thankful that she has a loving husband, a new baby, and a three-part special focusing on her and sister Jill amid the cancellation of “19 Kids and Counting” in July.
Meanwhile, there have been reports that Jim Bob and Michelle are planning to expand their family in 2016. But it would not be by another birth by Michelle but possibly through adoption.
Reports have it that the couple are planning to adopt one or more children next year. According to a source close to the Duggar family, it has been a dream of Jim Bob and Michelle to have more children and that they are happy to adopt siblings if that’s their best chance to make it happen, notes Starcasm.
The insider also said that Michelle does not care if they adopt a boy or a girl or what ethnicity the child is because she just wants to help a child’s life.
It should be noted that all the names of their children starts will the letter J so it would be interesting to know if the couple would be willing to adopt a child whose name does not start with the letter J.
