Since the tragic ski accident that has befallen former seven-time Formula One champion of the world Michael Schumacher in December 2013, every news that comes from the family has something to do with updates to his medical condition, or worse, prognosis about the possibility for the F1 racer not to fully recover at all.
In general, the news coming from the Schumacher family were simply either bad or worse.
But lately, there has been some sort of good news from the family of the German racer. But it has nothing to do with the current medical condition of Michael Schumacher. It has however has something to do with the future plans of the 16-year-old son of Michael and Corinna, named Mick.
Apparently, Mick wants to follow the footsteps of his legendary father and he has just completed his test runs on the Formula Four last Wednesday, April 8, details The Christian Times.
Mick is reportedly competing in the Oschersleben circuit in Germany on April 25 and 26.
Undue pressure
Sabine Kehm, the manager of both Michael and Mick Schumacher, said that people should not set too much high expectations on Mick since he is basically just learning the ropes.
Comparing him immediately to his father would give him the undue and unnecessary pressure since the kid has still a lot of things to learn with racing.
Kehm told fans through Reuters that they should set realistic expectations on Mick and not over-the-top hopes since the young Schumacher has yet to pile up those needed experience in the race track and that he should first appreciate the difference between karting and formula car racing, which is really big.
She added that people should give Mick more time to acclimatize himself to the game. His foray into racing is very new so he is just starting to get into it. Mick assured everyone around him that he will do the best he could so he would learn a lot. But everything must have the right amount of time for it to perfectly work.
Formula Four series
Mick Schumacher will be vying to win in the German Formula Four Series as part of the Dutch Van Amersfoot Racing team. The young Schumacher finished runner-up in the KF Junior Karting World and European Championship last year.
Mick will be partnering with fellow 16-year-old Harrison Newey, who happens to be the son of Formula One car designer Adrian Newey.
The April 25 and 26 event will be participated in by a total of 42 contestants and the inaugural racing event will be held at the Etropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleben.
The other contestants whose fathers are also known in the racing circuits include Jonathan Cecotto, son of Johnny Cecotto, the former Formula 1 and DTM driver and former motorcycle world champion; Luca Engstler, the son of Franz Engstler, the former World Touring Car Championship contestant; and Cedric Piro, the son of Erwin Piro, former Formula Super V driver.
