Sylvester Stallone Coaches Michael B. Jordan to Box in Rocky Spinoff Film ‘Creed’

Veteran Hollywood action star Sylvester Stallone has a lot on his plate right now with the “Rocky” spinoff “Creed” in the productions stage. The actor recently shared a photo of him with actor Michael B. Jordan, who is the lead star in the movie.

Stallone comes back as Rocky Balboa in the film and the photo was a scene from the movie featuring him teaching Apollo Creed’s son, Adonis Johnson (Jordan). In the movie, Johnson travels to Philadelphia in search of Rocky so he could ask the boxing legend to train him.

Rocky, as a retired boxing superhero, does not really think he would still be good enough to train anybody. However, when he saw Johnson’s raw talent and determination, he was reminded of his nemesis, Apollo, who later on became his best friend. Rocky eventually agreed to train Johnson.

Moreover, Stallone is opening opportunities for young men in this movie. It was recently reported that he took a real-life boxing fighter to join the cast because he was impressed by the boxer’s infamous bout in 2014.

Stallone chose Hammerin’ Hank Lundy to join the movie. Apparently, Lundy was fighting on the undercard of a Gabe Rosado back in December last year who was already been casted in the film. Stallone and the crew went in to watch Rosado’s fight with David Lemieux on December 10, 2014.  At the same time, they were also able to watch Lundy fight that night.

Lundy ferociously fought Thomas Dulorme in an epic 10-round battle. He lost but the producers love the way he fought. Immediately, he got a role in the movie.

On the other hand, Rosado said his move from Philadelphia to Los Angeles, where the crew is currently filming, has brought him nothing but good things. He humbly stated that he just got a movie with Stallone, which is a great experience for a boxer like him.

He spilled out a couple of details about the film but he is still tight-lipped about the plot of the story. He shared that he will be playing as one of the fighters in the film. Stallone really loves boxing so it is not unusual for the veteran actor to recruit authentic boxers to join his project.

Stallone’s new film, “Creed” is set to hit worldwide theaters on November 25, 2015.
