Season 5 of the legal drama TV series “Suits” on the USA Network has took a break after its 10th episode shown on August 26 and it left the biggest cliffhanger so far when Mike Ross, played by Patrick J. Adams, got arrested for fraud without knowing who turned him in to the authorities.
The next six episodes of “Suits” will be aired early next year and according to showrunner Aaron Korsh, it will unravel the mystery of who the snitch is which could prove to be a shocker to viewers.
While there are a multitude of people in the show who could have ratted on Mike, nobody is really sure who could it be, but Korsh hinted that it is someone who does not approve of Mike’s deception, which may even include Rachel’s father, cites the Vine Report.
Korsh also said that if could also be someone who only recently knew of Mike’s ruse such as the priest who just accepted Mike’s confession. The showrunner explained however that the rules of confession is that the priest cannot absolutely hand Mike in, but that does not mean he did not, as if to add further confusion and lead to more speculations from the fans.
As to the idea of Rachel’s father being the snitch, Korsh said that if that is the case, it would certainly have an impact on the relationship of Mike and his daughter because Rachel has sworn to remain loyal to her fiancé and keep his secret.
Repercussions on the law firm
In addition to Mike’s arrest for conspiracy fraud, his partner Harvey Specter, played by Gabriel Macht, resigned from the Pearson Specter Litt law firm, and both of these developments will have some major repercussions on the law firm and its people.
It is possible that Mike would draw support from Harvey eventually to help him survive his legal predicament.
According to Korsh, the back six episodes of Season 5 will actually mark a course change for “Suits” and it will focus primarily on Mike’s story arc after his arrest. He is expected to face charges in court.
The showrunner added that the remaining episodes will focus on discovering who revealed Mike’s secret and how he will face the consequences of finally getting caught.
He added that it has been the show’s intention to have the fake lawyer arrested with no build-up to keep it surprising and unexpected which will be similar to how events will turn up in real life.
Course change for the show
Episode 11 of “Suits” is titled “Blowback” which is a good thematic title for the last six episodes of Season 5 for the TV series, hinting of the course change for the show. Korsh said that they have been toying with the idea for quite some time already.
Season 5 of “Suits” premiered on June 24 and centered on Mike and Rachel finally going past their engagement in Season 4 and on course to planning their wedding.
For the first time in five seasons, Donna found herself no longer working under Harvey because of some professional disagreements. Harvey continued to deny himself that Donna is a big loss to his team out of pride. Donna adjusted working for Louis, who believes that she will eventually return to work for Harvey, who eventually resigned from the law firm
Before the Season 5 premiere, Korsh said that the situation of Harvey and Donna is similar to a couple who just broke up. So the two of them have options to either go through and survive it or get back together again and make a fresh start.
