According to rumors, Sony have been working on a brand new flagship, and the device could be quite close to the market already. If these claims turn out to be true, then we could be looking at the Xperia Z6 coming to the market in just a few months, and the device is apparently going to come with some pretty impressive specifications that are going to make many people consider it as a very viable option. Of course, this is mostly in the form of rumors so far, so fans should take it all with a grain of salt.
It would be a bit strange to see Sony coming out with an Xperia Z6 so soon, actually, as the Z5 hasn’t been on the market that long, and the company is reportedly still evaluating its success with their fans. Nevertheless, it could make sense for the company to be looking into releasing a new model right now if they believe that the Xperia line is currently popular enough to warrant a new entry so soon.
On the other hand, it could also indicate that Sony are displeased with something about how the Z5 turned out, and they want to rectify that mistake as soon as possible with the release of a new phone. They could also have some groundbreaking new technology that they want to bring out on the market as soon as possible, and in the end there are many possibilities for why Sony could be looking into releasing an Xperia Z6 so soon.
The company has been making a lot of progress with the Xperia line lately, and they seem to have found the right formula for its success. According to rumors, the new device is going to come with a 1080×1920 resolution, and its display will not actually be significantly different from that of its predecessor. It will also have a Snapdragon 820 CPU and up to 4 GB of RAM, depending on different sources. Last but not least, Sony are apparently looking into some new technology which will allow them to make even more optimal use of the available hardware, although this is a very minor rumor and it could be simply referring to a custom version of Android with lots of fine optimizations to run on the device’s hardware as adequately as possible.
Speaking of the operating system, rumors about that are pointing towards Android 6.0 Marshmallow shipping directly with the phone on launch, and that would make sense given the popularity of the newly released Android version on the market, and the fact that it would make the phone an even more attractive option for Android fans who want to stay in touch with current trends.
On the other hand, if Sony do come out with an Android 6.0 phone right now, this could raise some questions about the future of their other devices with regards to their updates. Is it possible that Sony are going to quickly abandon their previous models and focus on their most recent releases?
This has been a major issue with Android since the beginning of the operating system, as manufacturers have been finding it hard to keep in touch with the main release branch of Google. This often leads to situations where a manufacturer would only have the newest version of Android available on a few of their devices but not all of them, and while it can help certain devices perform better on the market if they come with a more recent Android version, the general situation is quite bad according to most.
