It looks like Samsung are on the verge of making yet another winning release in their Galaxy line, as the Galaxy Tab S3 is rumored to be approaching its launch date. If the various rumors about the device’s specifications turn out to be true, then it should be a very attractive offer in its market segment – provided, of course, that it’s appropriately priced.
The tablet should come in two variants, with a 9.7-inch and 8-inch screens respectively, but otherwise no difference in hardware specifications. Both versions are rumored to have an octa-core processor, 3 GB of RAM and a pretty large battery that should give the devices a sufficiently long usage time. Of course, this also depends on how much software Samsung have pre-loaded onto the device, as the company is notorious for bloating their Galaxy phones and tablets with all sorts of modifications to the operating system.
Speaking of that, it’s also rumored that Samsung are going to ship the devices with the latest release of Android, of course with some of their own changes on top. We don’t know the exact version number that the device(s) will come with, but if they do release with Android Nougat on board, that should be quite the attractive selling point.
It should make things especially good for those interested in conserving their battery life for as long as possible, as the newest version of Android has some special changes in store for that purpose exactly. We don’t have any exact reports on how well this performs yet, and it’s possible that it will turn out to be just another marketing gimmick without much use, but we’ll wait some time before forming opinions.
Many of Samsung’s fans are convinced that September will be the launch month for the device, as the company’s schedule was similar last year. Of course, they don’t necessarily have to follow the same plans, and it’s possible that we may even see the tablet out sooner than people are anticipating. That would certainly be a nice surprise from Samsung, and it would help them score a few extra sales in markets where they already have a stronger presence.
It’s also worth noting that the tablet will likely still come with a microSD card slot, even though it will allegedly be offered in two storage variants, a 32 GB and 64 GB one. Samsung generally prefer to include a card expansion slot in their devices, a feature that has won them some respect among tech geeks as various manufacturers prefer to omit that.
Last but not least, both versions of the tablet will apparently have some relatively good camera capabilities, at least as far as tablets go. Users shouldn’t expect any miracles of course, as this is definitely not the main selling point of a device like this, but if it turns out to be true that the tablets have a combo of 8 and 2 megapixel cameras, that should be quite the nice addition to the overall configuration.
There are some interesting rumors about the availability of the tablets, and it sounds like Samsung are aiming to prioritize some markets over others. We don’t know if that’s true or not, but it’s possible that those who want to get their hands on the tablet as early as possible may have to shop from overseas. Otherwise, they would have to deal with an additional delay in receiving the device.
