It’s difficult for tech companies to keep their operations a secret nowadays, when we have such easy and convenient access to tools that can track their activity on various fronts. For example, shipping an unreleased device to another country – usually done for testing purposes – can be a dead giveaway for that device’s existence and even some of its specifications, if information from the customs offices makes its way to the public.
Recently, we got reports that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8 has been spotted entering India in this fashion, but according to the same reports, the device was destroyed after its verification procedures were completed. Furthermore, the reports claimed that the device was listed with a value of $252.
The new Galaxy Tab S2 8 is expected to be one of the thinnest tablets on the market, along with its “brother” the 9.7. The devices are reportedly actually going to beat Apple’s iPad Air 2, which is being developed and marketed specifically for its small dimensions. If Samsung manage to deliver something more impressive in this regard, it will definitely be an interesting entry into the market.
Under the cover, an eight-core processor powers both devices, but there have been conflicting rumors about the exact model. Some are claiming that Samsung are going to use the latest hardware available on the processor market.
And with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of built-in storage, it should be a more than capable phone for the needs of all types of users. On the rear, an eight megapixel camera will handle the main shots, while a 2.1 MP one on the front will let users take nice-looking selfies. Of course, that’s not anything spectacular in comparison to other mobile devices on the market, but the camera is also not this tablet’s main focus.
One peculiar detail about the rumored specifications is that the screen will apparently run at a 4:3 resolution, as opposed to the standard widescreen ones traditionally used on the mobile market. 4:3 has been gaining more and more popularity though, so it makes sense to see it in a major release like this. Hopefully, the resolution will be big enough to provide a comfortable user experience in most apps. Current rumors are certainly claiming that it should be enough.
We know quite a lot about the new Galaxy Tab S2 8, at least if the most prominent rumors are true, but we still have no idea when we can expect to see the device on the market. Rumors about that have been quite varied, and nobody seems to know for sure when Samsung are planning to unveil the new tablet. If they are already getting it through operator tests though, it shouldn’t be long before we see it announced officially.

Is there also a release with stylus planned? Like on the new Tab A?
