Samsung Galaxy S6 Officially Gets Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Update that Changes the Smartphone’s Interface!

The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update has officially rolled out quite recently to the Samsung Galaxy S6 as well as the other mobile devices of the Korean tech giant that were released last year.

As expected, the latest Google mobile operating system rolled out first to Samsung 2015 handsets in South Korea but it was eventually released to similar devices in other parts of the world shortly thereafter.

Apart from the Samsung Galaxy S6, other devices that have received the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update include the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 Edge+, and the Galaxy Note 5.

Other than South Korea, the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update has started rolling out in India, the United Kingdom, Austria, Russia, Iraq, The Netherlands, Afghanistan, Croatia, Germany, Czech Republic, Nigeria, Pakistan, Italy, Macedonia, Spain, and several other countries, details Gotta Be Mobile.

The update also made it recently to North America with Sprint users receiving it ahead of the rest.

For some reason, the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update on the Samsung Galaxy S6 under Sprint is quite huge at 1GB and it brought forth a long list of enhancements as well as new features and bug fixes.

Apart from Sprint, the latest Marshmallow update has also rolled out to Samsung Galaxy S6 users under Verizon and T-Mobile in the US.

The Marshmallow update has also started rolling out to Samsung Galaxy S6 and other 2015 mobile devices of the Korean tech giant in Canada over the weekend.

The latest mobile OS update on the Samsung Galaxy S6 brought changes to the smartphone’s interface as it replaces blue with white and changes the look of several app icons.

A welcome news

The coming of the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update was a welcome news for Samsung smartphone users as most of them have long waited for the latest version of the Google mobile OS.

These users know for a fact that making sure that their devices are running the latest available software is a good housekeeping practice because it ensures that their gadgets have the latest features with fewer bugs and gaping security holes, notes Greenbot.

Just like the previous updates, the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow came to the former flagship devices of Samsung over-the-air and brought enhancements and fixes.

For Samsung Galaxy S6 users under T-Mobile who have yet to receive the latest Marshmallow update, they need to have their devices connected to Wi-Fi and must have 50% battery life. The update actually removes Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp as pre-installed apps so users need to download them again from the Google Play Store.

Great run as last year’s flagship smartphones

Samsung may have unveiled its latest flagship smartphones for this year, the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge, but the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge certainly had a good run as great flagships from the Korean tech giant last year up to March this year.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is undoubtedly and unarguably the Android smartphone to beat for the entire 2015 and it seems that there was yet a handset to beat it until the unveiling of the Galaxy S7 before the start of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 on February 21.

Because of its worldly looks and top-notch specifications and features, the Galaxy S6 has been regarded by critics as impressive and really has the lock on the best Android smartphone last year.

The smartphone has raised the design from the lackluster Galaxy S5, making the Galaxy S6 truly an upscale handset with its smooth glass-and-matte metal body, improved fingerprint reader, and new camera shortcut key.

Samsung has also done away with all the clutter on its flagship smartphone, making the handset a stunner both inside and out.
