Roku 4 to Feature an Internal Antenna to Improve its Signal Strength

Much has been said about the upcoming Roku 4, the latest iteration on the most popular line of TV set-top boxes for watching media streaming services like Netflix and Hulu on televisions.

While emerging competition is keenly eyeing to take it down first and foremost, the streaming device developed by Roku will certainly give its competitors a good fight.

In addition to the rumored features of the Roku 4, which were significant upgrades from the Roku 3, the new streaming device from the American tech company based in Saratoga, California will reportedly have an internal antenna to improve its signal strength, according to a report by UK Marketing News.

While details have not been elaborated upon, it seems that the idea behind the feature is to be able to pick up network signals and process it within the device at greater speeds.

Pricier than competition

Although Roku devices are priced higher than other similar gadgets in the market today, they are still getting the preference of users because of their proven reliability and ease of use.

The most affordable of the Roku streaming devices is the Roku streaming stick which is priced at $47.50. That is higher than the price of Google Chromecast at $29.99 or the Amazon Fire TV Stick at $39.99, notes PC.

The Roku 3 is currently valued in the retail markets at $99.99 and it is expected that when the Roku 4 will come out, it will have a price in the range from $120 to $150.

And whether consumers believe it or not, there is still the Roku and the Roku 2 device in the market even today, thus proving the dependability and durability of the streaming devices and their popularity among consumers.

Time for a change

Roku 3 has been the most popular line of TV set-top boxes for watching media streaming services since March 2013. It has been more than two years already and it is about time that a new iteration or upgrade of the device comes out.

The Roku 4 has already been in development for quite some time and it seems like Roku is just waiting for the perfect time to launch the device. Reports have it that Roku 4 will finally be released this coming fall.

Further delaying its release would push consumers who have been loyal to the Roku brand since the company released the first Netflix internet video streaming receiver box, known as the Roku DVP, back in May 2008, to shift to alternatives that are plenty in the market these days.

Roku knows how competitive the market is fast becoming especially with the emergence of the big name players in the field including Apple, Google, and Amazon. That’s in addition to the fact that internet TV services are also gaining ground and other manufacturers will also be releasing new media streaming products by next year.

The American tech company needs to release the next generation Roku 4 to the market soon enough because that is the only way that it can stay at the forefront and beat its competitors to the punch.

In a recent interview, Roku CEO Anthony Wood said that he is confident that their strategies against Apple, Google, Amazon and other competitors in the market, will be sufficient to hold off the impending stiff competition.

Part of the company’s strategies is the upcoming fall launching of the Roku 4. But while Roku has the largest channel selection, arguably the simplest interface, and the most devoted users, it cannot deny that the competition is really making gains in all those areas.

Wood is optimistic that his company has come up with good business strategies to fend off potential threats along the way from the competition. He also explicitly said that Roku is not an underdog in the game because it is in good solid footing.
