“Prometheus 2” was recently announced to have been delayed due to production issues, and the new release date has been set to April 2017. It was originally supposed to come out in March 2016, but this information turned out to be outdated, as new reports came from the production studio. The movie has so far been in production for two years already, and the very first plans of the studio actually had it coming out this year.
However, there have been multiple setbacks along the way, but Ridley Scott claims that the movie’s production is still going strong and the studio is planning to see “Prometheus 2” finished on time. However, while the date that was originally revealed by Scified was March 4 2016, it seems that the studio will need one more year to properly develop the film – this is allegedly coming from 20th Century Fox, who have already set a release date for the upcoming film.
Reports indicate that filming hasn’t even started yet, and is scheduled for late 2015. While it’s not rare for a film’s production to run for three years without any filming taking place, it’s usually indicative of certain issues, and indeed, the studio behind “Prometheus 2” hasn’t been shy to admit that they are running into various problems along the way.
Further recent reports indicate that the new film will focus heavily on space exploration, and will feature new alien species, although not much is known about them yet. Ridley Scott knows how to tease his audience, and he’s been doing that very well with the revelation of various details about his upcoming film. It’s expected that fans will get to learn something new before the film hits the screen, as there is certainly plenty of time until then. It’s expected that Ridley Scott will not miss the opportunity to build up even more hype for the upcoming film.
The “Alien” franchise has been around for quite a long time, and “Prometheus” has been a solid continuation of its major trends, while also breathing new life into the series with some fresh, original ideas which weren’t explored in the previous films. Fans of the first “Prometheus” have been hopeful that Ridley Scott will handle the second film properly, although so far, other than the delays, there has been no indication of any problems with the film’s production. In fact, those delays could possibly be seen as a good sign, as they mean that the studio is prepared to give the film the extra layers of polish it needs, instead of rushing it out the door in order to meet some unknown deadline.
