It’s official. The fifth installment of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie franchise will go back to the beginnings of the series and tie every loose end.
If it was a TV series, it would sound like the “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” was about to reach its season finale. But in the movies, it is commonly referred to as a reboot.
While the fifth movie of the franchise is rumored to be a reboot of the whole thing, it is definitely not. The producers just decided to redirect the course of the fifth film after the last two movies of the franchise veered way off course.
It was actually British actress Kaya Scodelario who said in a recent interview that “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” will be similar to the first film, which is considered a classic.
She added that the creators wanted to have the “Pirates of the Caribbean” epic journey for the entire storyline to make sense by tying everything up to the beginning and lead to new storylines.
The “Maze Runner” actress says her character in the “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” is Carina Smyth. She will be an astronomer and an academician and that she will be fighting for her right to study in the university because having women pursue such vocation is something not normal during the early days.
Her role will intertwine with the goal of Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp, as Carina will also be looking for the Trident of Poseidon. She has a diary which shall offer them clues and on how to find what they were looking for. But typical of Captain Jack, he will mess everything up and that’s where all the fun and misadventures begin.
In addition, just like the first film, “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” will exude high entertainment value the way the first two films of the franchise had almost two decades ago, cites Moviepilot.
To conclude the series?
“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” will come out on global theaters on July 17, 2017, and reports currently going around indicate that it could possibly be the last.
However, it seems that is not to be the case as there are also reports last month that the reason why “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” is going back to its beginnings is because the producers want to start off new storylines from there and possibly make more movies out of the franchise.
One thing is sure at this point is that “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” is certainly not the last for the franchise.
Main plot details
The main details of the plot have already been revealed, leaked or made official, and it appears that “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” is going back to feel “The Curse of the Black Pearl.”
As Captain Salazar threatens to kill every living pirate in the world, Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp, must find the legendary Trident of Poseidon and defend against Salazar’s deadly ghost pirates and also prevent them from marching forward to the Devil’s Triangle.
The good news is that Captain Jack Sparrow will also have a common ally in the person of Orlando Bloom, who shall play the role of Will Turner. He did mention that he will also become the new Davy Jones in the upcoming movie, cites Movieweb.
The two main new characters for “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” are Brenton Thwaites, who is playing the role of Henry, who is actually the son of Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann. Henry will be on a mission to free his father from the burden of Davy Jones.
Kaya Scodelario, on the other hand, will take on the role of Carina Smythe, a fiercely intelligent astronomer determined to be accepted into the university through scholarship despite restrictions forced on women at that time.
In a recent interview, Scoledario revealed that Carina is also after the Trident and seems to be ahead of Captain Jack Sparrow though inevitably the two will clash as they compete for the trophy.
